“Great hang out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2014 via mobile

if your interested in hustle and bustle of people, this is a great spot. We went on a cold rainy day and there was still a lot of activity. People from all walks of life and all parts of the world passed by. As a side benefit you get to see the skyline of the old city, the modern city and the Asian coastline from here. Remember to check out both sides of the bridge and each end too. There is plenty of good sea food and for every budget. From sit down formal type restaurants to the street vendors. As I said a great place to stand still and watch the world swoosh by you.

“Fish, fish, and more fish”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2014

The Galata bridge connects the Old Town (Sultanahmet) to the Karakoy area of Istanbul. The bridge is located right next to the Egyptian spice market where you will find many of the cities' touring boats. In fact, if you watch the Rick Steves video of Istanbul, this is where he eats the mackerel sandwich from the boat restaurant.

Both sides of Galata bridge are filled with restaurants and cafes on the waterfront level. If you decide to walk the upper level, you will compete for space with other pedestrians and local fisherman who inundate the entire length of the bridge with buckets of fresh caught fish. The high number of fisherman, the tremendous amount of fish caught and stored, and the plethora of seagulls milling about create a smell that is not very delightful on the upper level.

If you decide to cross the Galata bridge on foot, highly recommend you take the lower level and enjoy the smells of coffee, tea, and prepared foods.

“Exciting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2014

There are plenty of restaurants to choose from. Each one offers some sort of discounts and/or free drinks with the meal. Try to negotiate the best deal. They can be "pushy" so, try to be as firm as possible.

“Worth to cross it on foot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2014

This bridge is a short connection between Eminönü and Karaköy areas. With lots of various kinds of fish restaurants and cafes on both sides under it,you can always find a suitable one for yr budget and take a seat and enjoy the view while having yr meal and drinks in this quiet place.Of course,it is also very nice to walk over and under the bridge and see the important sights of the city from different angle.Very much recommended to have a go through it during any time of the day.

“Not only the Bridge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2014

Hi everyone,

This is my personal review of Galata Bridge.

When i was going to taksim, i decided to walk there from my hotel in Sultanahmet, and i did not read about Galata bridge itself so i was more then shocked actualy when i first came there as it was not only the bridge. Amount of people, restaurants, and overall fishermans on that bridge makes it best bridge i have even seen. Galata bridge is amazing, from it's beautiful view to it's amazing restaurants near water, aswell as culture itself of the people standing on that bridge 24/7. It's amazing place - attractions to visit, so please do so.
