“Helpful and friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013 via mobile

On arrival the hotel had double booked, meaning we had to stay at their "sister hotel" the first night, but the staff were very apologetic. We even received an apology letter and a box of Turkish delights....

The staff overall were extremely helpful and friendly, which made our stay in Istanbul very easy.

The location is excellent, being only a short walk to the tram system and major sites.

On the negative side, although we had a double room, the room itself was tiny. Maybe this is normal for a historical area of Istanbul. However the room was immaculate and well equipped.

Overall I would recommend staying here, but remember this was our first trip to Istanbul so we have nothing to compare it to.

Fantastic location, great staff, great food, great rooms.
This hotel is a must for a stay in Istanbul you will not get a better location or value for money than here. Everything went well and nothing was a problem for the staff. I have stayed in big expensive hotels but they do not have the personal touch of this hotel.

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony they just add to the experience

We only had time for 3 nights, but it was suuuuuper.
First night it was not possible to have separate beds, but next day.......yes we did.
Staff is THE BEST we ever saw. Food is so much and good. Place is the best to go if you want relax. Noise is possible at any hotel. Just take something to close your ears.
The hotel is on the end, no cars and still so close to everything. We did all on foot.
Istanboel did not give us any time of danger, even we were with 2 ladies. But indeed, if you like to eat somewhere, or take taxi, make sure and friendly face.
We took taxi from airport for 45 tl. Ataturk, 2 pers.
For your way back, you can find everywhere shuttle for 5 € per pers.
It takes yust 10 min longer than taxi. Went real good.

TIP for musea: take early in the morning 8.30 h ticket at topkapi palace for 3 days.
It is at that time not so busy and yoy have ticket for about 7 musea in 72 hours.
No waiting for ticket, just go in line for passing.

Teşekkür ederiz
Helma and Lut

Room Tip: We had room with balcony. Super and charming view on sea and old roofs.

We visited many other hotels around Turkey in the 4 weeks since our visit to the Historia and their hospitality and kindness stands out as exceptional. The rooms are lovely, the location and aspect great and the breakfast the one of the best we encountered. But, it was the staff who made our visit so noteworthy, regardless of the language barrier, they were always helpful, considerate, patient and good-humoured. And we even learnt a little Turkish. Thank you all very much for a fabulous introduction to your wonderful city.

Room Tip: If you are friends in a twin room be very clear if you want separate beds - its easier for staff to...

Great location, round the corner from blue mosque and short walking distance to all the most important sights! Staff are brilliant and always happy to help. Our room was large and clean but was in the lower levels so no view. Our aircon wasn't very powerful either so was a bit hot and stuffy. Only
Thing we could fault though and would still highly recommend!

Our family (wife and 2 kids - 6 and 12) recently had the good fortune to spend a few days in Istanbul and spend 3 nights at Hotel Historia. From our initial correspondence with the manager to the time we left, we received prompt and accurate advice and information. The staff were always friendly and helpful and made us feel like we were part of the "family". The location was within walking distance of the Blue Mosque, Ayasofya, Basillica Cistern and Topkapi palace, which was ideal for our children. The Grand Bazaar and other attractions were also easily reachable via the trams. The rooms were adequate for our requirements and the breakfasts were great. Plenty of restaurants in the area to try the local cuisine. Overall a fantastic and memorable experience !

Room Tip: If it's just to sleep in, any room will do !
