“Best hotel in Istanbul”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

This small hotel has everything you could wish for. The rooms have been refurbished to a very high standard. Tea, coffee, mini bar, toiletries all available. Lovely breakfast served on the terrace the hotel opposite with views of the Bospherous and Blue Mosque. Staff exceptionally helpful and friendly. On top of which it is in the best location being so close to Sultanamet. Fantastic.

Lovely clean hotel in great location.Very friendly and helpful staff who speak good English. Breakfast at nearby hotel - v short stroll - good selection of food and plenty of seating on roof terrace with great views of the blue mosque and the golden horn. Room was pleasant and nicely decorated - not large but certainly big enough - v good shower. Would certainly stay here again if back in the area. We had a lovely time here - felt very safe and well looked after. Thanks!

Room Tip: We stayed in a twin room in the section across the road. There wasn't a lot of spare space - but...

This hotel is small and friendly. All the staff were attentive and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was sleek and modern with an excellent shower. Breakfast on the rooftop of the nearby Best Western hotel was a minute's stroll across the road. Less time than it takes to reach the dining room of larger hotels I have stayed in. The view from the roof is incomparable.
The hotel's situation in Sutanahmet is ideal for visiting all the major sights in this wonderful city. I have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Swayed by the really beautiful pictures on booking website, and the convenient location made us go for the Hippodrome Hotel. Well, Istambul is a little tricky for a the first time. Most of these pictures are of their sister property, across the road Azade Hotel where you have to go for their complimentary breakfast. There is no view to speak of from the Hippodrome hotel! It is purely a very basic functional accommodation, with no character to speak of, but yes at a central location in the Sultanhamet. It is the area which has everything- The Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and the Grand Bazaar, and all of these are at a convenient walking distance.
Pros: Location, friendly staff. Upgraded us to the family suite which was nice!! Room had all basic amenities and was clean!
Cons: Pictures on their website and other major booking sites tell that they have a good photographer, but these are deceptive pictures so don't go by them at all! The area is infested with touts and sellers pulling you in their shops/restaurants, to rip you off, so a little tough to navigate around.
Overall: Expensive, but not a bad property if were not expecting what you saw in the pictures. Its basic and purely functional to sleep the night before you get out again to explore the fascinating town of Istambul

Room Tip: Not too much in the rooms anyway! But I suppose a front facing would be better!

The location is perfect, near Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, restaurants and not far away from trem stations. It is also quite, since the hotel is located in Sultanahmet Old City.
It is a friendly hotel, small but with cozy room, feels at home... Restaurant for daily breakfast is located at (shared with) Best Western Hotel.
The staffs are so helpful and friendly.

My wife and I stayed at this Hotel, for a 5-day mini-break in April. Booked through BA, this was a lovely little place, located in the old city, and a stone's throw from the Blue Mosque, and Hagia Sophia Museum. The staff were all very hepful, (especially Hasan), and available all times. Whether it was catching the tram, or going for a walk by the sea, this place is ideally located for both, as getting to either was only a few minutes walk. Breakfast in the sister Hotel across the road, was both wholesome and plentiful; and the views from the breakfast room were just super. In summary, a lovely place and good value for money. No hesitation at all in recommending this place.
