My wife and I reserved a "large" double with a view of Aghia Sofia for one week in the beginning of January 2007. Upon arrival, we were given a tiny room with no view. I immediately complained and they said that while sorry, they were supposedly full. The next day we were given a choice of three rooms and took a large room with a magnificent view.

We went sightseeing that day and the next, When we returned that evening we were told that they were closing the hotel for "unexpected" renovations and we would have to move to their sister hotel Sultanahmet. Unfortunately for them we checked out this hotel which is an absolute disaster. We refused their offer saying we would move to a hotel of our choosing and they went hysterical at this loss of income. They told us that we could stay the rest of the time and that we would have no problems.

We went out again the next day and when we returned, we were now told we had no choice, we absolutely had to move since they would shut off all services such as heat, electricity, hot water etc. They once again tried very hard to make us move to the Sultanahmet but I refused, demanding that they refund the four days still remaining since they always demand prepayment. After two hours of delaying, they finally paid and we moved down the street to the Hotel Tan where we happily and pleasantly spent the rest of our holiday. I highly recommend the Hotel Tan.

While this hotel really has many plusses, the major negative is that the management seems to be inherently dishonest in their dealings with guests. Do not even think of booking this hotel or their Sultanahmet sister hotel.

We just spent a week at the Goldenhorn Sultanahmet, and definitely would not want to stay anywhere else on our next trip to Istanbul.
We were granted the room 410 that has probably the BEST view you can get: St Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi, AND the Bosphorus bridge... Simply Gorgeous !!!! The rooms were extra clean, and not noisy at all. The personnel was also very nice and helpful. If you cannot get a room in it, go there and ask them if you can spend a minute on the roof terrasse at sunset (prayer time), to hear the Muezzin performances...An unforgetable experience !!!

I usually view a hotel as a place to sleep, nothing super special. I booked this thru a travel agent with specific price guidelines for a 3-day weekend stay.

Lobby is fantastic and the concierge was very helpful at first. The bellhop stared at my chest the entire ride up the elevator. When I opened the door to our room, my jaw dropped. Yes, it was extremely tiny, but it was clean. Actually the vacuum cleaner was still in the room when we arrived.

My friend and I had to push the vacuum out of the room ourselves. We also pushed the extra bed out of our room to make more floor space for ourselves. The bellhop was miffed at this.

Later, the concierge completely misunderstood our dinner package and booked us for something completely different. We didn't find out the mistake until after we arrived. It wasn't a total bust.

However - the location makes up for the small room. We had a view of the Blue Mosque from our window and Hagia Sophia. Both are a very very short walk from the hotel. The breakfast was actually okay, nothing special.

If your looking for a place for a weekend and very close to the big three (Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Topkapi) then you found it.

I had the misfortune of staying for 9 nights at the Accura Hotel in İstanbul at the end of May 2006. Upon arrival at the hotel after a very long flight from the US, I was greeted with a filthy, tiny, unkempt room. The room that I was placed in was not cleaned and there was trash and dirty glasses in the room. After complaining, I was moved to an equally tiny room with equally horrible bunk-bed quality mattresses and, after complaining about the unsecure door to an adjoining room, I was moved to yet another room. While the 3rd room was acceptable, the air conditioner did not work and the mini-bar fridge was more like a microwave oven. No AC in İstanbul with 32C/89F weather is pretty miserable. To make matters worse, the electricity went out twice on the day of my arrival. When I inquired with the reception, they said it was because people on the floor I stayed on were using too much electricity! Bearing in mind Accura Hotel claims to be a 4-star establishment. Well, this was by far the worst experience I have ever had in a ''4 star'' hotel for which I paid almost 900 USD. In short, the hotel was undergoing renovations when I was in İstanbul back in February 2006 and they unfortuantely have opened and taken on guests before completing those renovations. There are many hotels in the Sultanahmet area and one would be wise to avoid the unnecessary frustrations and unpleasantries of the Accura Hotel

We ended up here because we unexpectedly came back to Istanbul between visits to other cities, and our preferred hotel was fully booked. This one is just across from our favourite the Nena Hotel, but that is all they have in common. All the staff were grumpy and unhelpful, which was such a contrast to nena and the other hotels in other cities we visited in Turkey. The rooms are small and in desperate need of updating. Breakfast is in a windowless basement, and the roof terrace is only for those who want to pay extra for drinks or food, again in contrast with Nena, and even their taxi driver who took us to the airport wanted to start an argument over nothing. It made us appreciate the other hotels in Turkey and all the other friendly and helpful people...
