I stayed there for 3 days and got a free transfer from the airport. It's close to interesting places like Blue Mosquée, Hagia Sofia Museum, Grand Bazaar, Topkapi Palace and Sultanahmet tramway stop. But: I wasn't able to turn on the TV by myself (I always had to ask someone to do that), there isn't hot water, the staff isn't very professional (despite of being very nice), the breakfast is just average, the hotel is in a strange, but very calm street.

I've been to Turkey the last three years ('04-60) and stayed at the Ayasofya at the beginning and end of each trip so I've stayed in at least 5 different rooms. Each one is different and some are much better than others. Do not let them put you in one of the first floor rooms. Each room has individual airconditioning units which are great in the summer. The staff is friendly and helpful, the breakfast is not bad but not exceptional. The location is close to the main tourist attractions of the old city but you have to walk up a fairly steep hill to get to them. Nice roof terrace for morning or afternoon lounging. The rates are in line with the neighborhood. I'd like to know where the reviewer who complained about the bad smell found a room for 35 euros. I've never seen a rate like that in the area.

We stayed at the Hotel Ayasofya for 6 nights and it was the best hotel experience I've had. The hotel was converted from a ninteenth century traditional Turkish house having been restored in the early 1990s. It is charming and extremely well cared for by the unbelievably friendly and helpful staff. We had 2 single standard rooms and they were clean and comfortable with air-conditioning, cable TV and en-suite bathrooms. The public spaces are relaxed and welcoming with the main draw for us being a very underused roof terrace that had peaceful views of the Marmaris Sea and a couple of nice local mosques. The location was perfect as the hotel is in a quiet street but only 5 mintues walk away from The Blue Mosque. As we
stayed for 6 nights the staff were happy to collect us from and deliver us to the airport. This was all done extremely efficiently and was a huge bonus as it spared us the hassle of negotiating taxis or public transport. Within an hour of our plane landing we were standing in front of The Blue Mosque.

Our trip to Istanbul was magical and The Hotel Ayasofya was a big part it.

I was for a weekend trip in Istanbul at Ayasofya Hotel. It is situated in middle of old city, a couple walk minutes away from the Topkapi Palace and Hagia Spohia. The rooms are brand new and decorated well. The hotel staff were very helpful and nice. And the highlight, when you go up to the roof terrace to breakfast like me, to have dinner or to take a drink you will be impressed by the gorgeous view you get. You have a huge panorama of the sea of marmara, princess islands, Bosphorus. I took some photos and enjoy it.
