“Back for the second time !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

We stayed at Sari Konak in July for the second time. ( the first time was a few years back) I booked the suite for the 4 of us and we were not disappointed. The place was spotless , staff were friendly and caring , the location was excellent and the rooftop terrace was amazing. We had to prearrange glutenfree food for my daughter and we didn't have a problem when we arrived , g-free bread was available. The breakfast served on the rooftop was great, there was a great selection and the view was fantastic. Every evening we stayed there as well, enjoyed a few drinks and the beautiful view.
Major sights are close , we walked everywhere . We also got a map upon arrival to help us to get around and booked our Turkish Bath with the help of Sari Konak.
The wifi worked well in our suite ; we were very satisfied again with the whole Sari Konak expereince and hopefuully we will be back again for the 3rd time.

I would not want to stay anywhere else in Istanbul. We have stayed here twice. The first time for 9 nights in 2010, the second time for 6 nights in May this year, 2013. It's charm is a combination of wonderfully kind people, a convenient, quiet location, and a number of nice rooms which are modern and clean but include traditional architectural features. I love the rooftop breakfast/afternoon bar, which has great views. You will need to book well in advance if you want the better rooms. If I lived nearer it would be my home away from home. I have been reluctant to share my secret favourite hotel because I was being selfish, but now you know.

Room Tip: I would avoid the subterranean room at the front which is big and nicely appointed but noisy - due t...

Recently stayed in this hotel. Although we booked for two, we needed to upgrade to a triple room upon arrival. This was done efficiently by the front desk at a very good rate. We had a two bedroom suite which was very large and bright. Location central to all major attractions. Nice breakfast area on roof terrace, with views of the Bosphorus, although the breakfast itself could be improved. Wifi didn't really work in rooms, only main areas...perhaps that could be improved. The staff were very helpful and I would definitely stay here again. Thanks particularly to Mustaffa who assisted with our change of plans.

A beautiful small hotel close to all the attractions in Istanbul.Clean ,child friendly and though small it had a lot of character and old world charm especially the family suite was great. Rooftop breakfast was simple and fresh -the views of the blue mosque and the water gave a nice start to the day.

We stayed for 2 nights at the beginning of our three week trip to Turkey. We were upgraded to a triple suite—more like a small apartment—with an entry, big bath, large main room and small 2nd room. The hotel is located on a dead-end street away from the main chaos of Sultanahmet. Our room faced the street, but was still very quiet. The location offers great access to the sites within a 10-minute walk without the noise and fuss. The front desk was extremely helpful and booked restaurant reservations and answered all of our questions. We were even loaned an Istanbulkart for transport by one of the staff. Breakfast on the rooftop with a view of the Blue Mosque domes was the best during our entire trip to Turkey. We also enjoyed playing chess there. This is an excellent choice for families in the old city.

SARI KONAK OTELI is a fantastic quaint little hotel in Istanbul. Located in the old part of the city, it is perfectly located within walking distance of St. Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and the Hippodrome. The rooms are small but very clean, and the triple room suite was perfect for our family of five, while the grandparents had a single room just down the hall. Air-conditioning and free wifi make it very comfortable. There is a beautiful terrace on the rooftop with breathtaking views of the city, which not only serves a wonderful complimentary breakfast buffet, but has an evening bar. After a long day of walking the sights, we would have drinks up on the roof and ask our bartender all sorts of questions about Turkey’s history and culture. What truly sets this hotel apart is its personal service----the staff goes out of their way to answer questions, book tours, and provide for all of our needs, no matter how big or small. This hotel is one of the best kept secrets in Istanbul and I highly recommend it!

Room Tip: If 5 or more in your family/group ask for the family suite(room 502)..... great roof top bar with wo...

I love this sweet little hotel with its great location and helpful staff. The rooftop terrace with its fabulous view of the Blue Mosque is a great place for those generous buffet breakfasts that include ( if you wish, and I do) excellent Turkish coffee. The rooftop is also the place for a drink in the evening. An added nice surprise this year was Hasan, who is very knowledgeable about oenology, and had some excellent Turkish wines to offer. (Yes, a Californian can say this!)

Though I met with friends for part of the time I was in Istanbul, I was mostly sightseeing on my own. The Sari Konak is a comfortable, safe place for women travelers.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that overlooks the back of the hotel to avoid some street noise w open windows.
