“Arcadia Blu Mosque Beauty !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

As the name suggests this hotel is situated very close to the Blue Mosque. Compared to the surrounding hotels its a true beauty notwithstanding the littlt glitches it has. i found some of the neighbouring hotels have much smaller and antiquated rooms.Being recently renovated means great advantages in terms of modern and new finishes. The floors are wooden and the airconditioers worked very well. The views from the top few floors are spectacular! The rooftop level offers almost 360deg view of the Bosphorous but it is truly breathtaking! I spent 8 nites with my family in mid August and thoroughly enjoyed it! The staff worked tirelessly and long hours ; yes some of them need to be able to brush up their English but still their hearts went all out to serve and please us! EMRE at Reception commands his outpost very well , ably suppoted by the very sweet Nesrin and the Night Shift Manager was efficient and always helpful. The Restaurant Manager needs to be commended as she immediately took remedial action when the breakfast buffet was found to be a little wanting! Fried Eggs, extra juice and one or two other items were added to the menu. The staff worked hard and were generally pleasant and most helpful! It is about 5 minutes from the Blue Mosque and also has two smaller mosques within a few minutes walk. The hotel staff are efficient in summoning taxis and the tram is barely 5 minutes from the hotel.Notwithstaning that there are some minor problems, it is still very good value for money! I would easily and without hesitation recommend this Hotel !

Room Tip: if you want true comfort, take the corner room. Dont hesitate to complain to management if anything...

I went there for 16 nights and it was amazing... It's in the heart of SultanAhmet but still have an easy access to get in and out of it by car or tram.
Every great attraction is within a walking distance from the hotel you barely need the tram.
It has astonishing view of the city and the Bosphore from the roof; don't miss it if you go! Especially at night!!!
I recommend it for couples and tourists. The staff is really friendly (special thanks to Emry).
See you soon Arcadia Blue!!!

Great location: location is great, within short walking distance to the Mosque, Agia Sophia, and the tram station. The neighbourhood is a busy touristic one, so know what to expect.
Bad quality finish: the air conditioning was not working in one of the 2 rooms we had. When we asked the staff to fix it, they just removed the card from the socket and put it back (disconnected electricity and reconnected it). The AC worked for 5minutes and stopped again. Upon follow up they did the same and walked away. Had we not put up a fight, no one would have suggested us to move to another room. The AC in the other room we had worked, but the display only worked for the first few minutes and theb displayed "Err" and kept blinking. Toilets emitted very foul odor from the drains in all 3 rooms (2 rooms we had + replacement room). The safe is tiny (if you plan to put your ipad there, you have to go through a series of strength and acrobatic maneuvres). No blankets! Either a thin cotton sheet or a heavy wool cover... lights are very dim in the toilet so good luck shaving, etc...
Super unclean: the rooms were dusty when we checked in and stayed like that despite us displaying the "clean my room" every morning. And when i left my towel on the floor for it to be replaced, it was just folded and put back in the drawer (wet and smelling of used towel).
A couple of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful (receptionist). The rest didnt have a clue. The person we asked to help us with our bags had a very leisurely pace. I ended up carrying half the bags from the taxi to the loby. We had to ask 3 times for milk in our coffee at breakfast. Breakfast was limited, and the AC never on (gets very hot when busy).
The view is breathtaking (from the rooms and from the terrace above the 9th floor). We were just unlucky having all the noise from the road works at the entrance of the hotel. I would suggest checking with reception if these works are complete before you book.
It's a shame. This could be one of he best with a little attention.

The location is really perfect in the old city, at a few minutes walking distance from Hagia Sophia, blue Mosque and Topkapi palace. Tramway station very close to the hotel. Modern equipment of the property. The restaurant "Fine Dining" is to be recommended with a nice and friendly staff. Incredible view from the terrace on the Bosporus and famous monuments.

The location is excellent for seeing the historical sites of Istanbul. A 5 minute walk and you're at the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. A 10-15 minute walk and you're at the Grand Bazzar. The top terrace of the hotel gives you breath taking views.

Hands down the best breakfast my sister-in-law and I ate at during our 2 week Holiday in Turkey.

The car service to the airport is overpriced. They charged me 40 Euro (103 Turkish Lira). I took a taxi the next time and it only cost me 45 Turkish Lira.

I booked the Arcadia based on it having been recently renovated, having a seemingly decent location, and wifi access included within the room rate. If you plan to see the historic sights of Istanbul, then the location really is superb; just a few moments walk from the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia, it is placed on a very quiet, wide street that runs perpendicular to the shops and transport of Divanyolu Caddesi.

STANDARD ROOM. The rooms have been fitted to a comfortable, modern standard, and still feel 'new' (towels are still soft, bathroom shows no wear and tear). There is plenty of wardrobe space, and the curtains and blackout shades do an admirable job is you like to lie in. The bathroom has a great rainfall shower, but is let down by poor lighting surrounding the mirror. For a putative 4* hotel (or any hotel for that matter), I did find it a real surprise that power to some appliances around the desk was supplied by an extension cable running below and over the front lip of the desk - if you're going to spend a significant amount on achieving a minimalistic finish to the rooms, surely you'd be keen to avoid something unsightly and amateurish like this. The view from the standard rooms isn't great; they overlook an unremarkable street, and with the curtains open those behind the multitude of windows opposite can see straight in. Wifi worked very well in the room, with a solid, constant connection throughout the stay (good enough for anything less data hungry than streaming video). There was no 'room / hotel' guide provided, and no mini-bar price list - I would assume this will be resolved as the place finds its feet after the re-fit.

As detailed by the previous reviewer, there is a clear discrepancy between the level of service provided by the team during the day (helpful and friendly), and what you have to endure from the disinterested, unprofessional misanthrope who is in charge by night. On arrival (around 9pm) and having approached the reception desk, he squarely ignored me for perhaps a minute while he just looked at some papers in front of him; after I prompted him he just said 'wait' and continued what he was doing for another two minutes. He then just handed over a keycard to me and said the room number; when I asked for a map, he just chucked one on the desk without even looking at me or pointing out where the hotel was! Anyway, if you can just ignore and avoid this guy, then the service is otherwise commendable.

Note that at the start of August 2013, the road outside the hotel was being rebuilt in a rather haphazard manner, meaning that there was a loose metal grill on the ground, and often drying concrete that wasn't even cordoned off. It would probably be advisable for families with pushchairs or guests with wheelchairs etc to confirm with the hotel that this work has been completed.

I'd recommend this place if you're looking for somewhere clean, comfortable, and relatively nice for sightseeing. It's closer to a 3.5* pushing 4* than a 'genuine' 4*, but unless you really need some additional facilities, a larger reception area, or are exceptionally fussy, then this is a good bet for a memorable trip to the splendours of Istanbul.

Room Tip: Probably worth paying for the rooms with decent view

I booked this hotel based on the location and the promised view.... Well I got that for sure! Close to the Ayasofya and Blue Mosque, Basillica Cistine and only 10 mins walk to Grand Bazarre... Not to mention very close to lots and lists of restaurants and little shops, the hype on the streets is so cool. Mind you as a solo female traveller, was approached continuously by locals offering help and then trying to sell me carpet ! Ha ha
The Hotel staff are great especially the guy on during the day, cannot quite remember his name think may have been Kamel? But he went out of his way to show me the view for the restaurant plus also the top terrace, also gave advise on must see and do there. He speaks excellent English and just honestly kind and helpful. The man behind the desk when I checked in at nighttime was just plain rude and abrupt... The other daytime staff made up for his rudeness.
The only thing that may put some people off staying there is waking up early to the prayers from the mosques speaker bellowing through the town, but I honestly think they can be heard for miles anyway.. And they didn't really bother me, I just closed my window.

Room Tip: There is no pool.. That's why I put terrible
