“Long weekend in Istanbul - then stay here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

Really enjoyed our stay at Yasmak Sultan. We chose it from other people's comments on Trip Advisor and it lived up to its reputation. It has comfortable beds, rooftop restaurant with great views, large selection for breakfast buffet and evening meals, swimming pool and within walking distance of all the main tourist attractions and tram and metro links. There are numerous restaurants nearby with lively atmosphere - but it is still in a quiet area for a large city like Istanbul. We were really grateful for the very friendly welcome by all the staff who couldn't have been more attentive to every wish. We have to say a special thank you to Zumre from guest relations, who smiled non-stop, made excellent suggestions for places to visit in our short time and made our stay a pleasure. We especially liked the fact that she made the effort to visit people during breakfast at their tables - so there wasn't a long queue for information in the lobby - and everyone could get out and enjoy the city. Highly recommend staying here for sight seeing and friendly service.

Room Tip: we stayed at the back on a high floor - no real view - but quiet.

If you're looking for a no-frills, professionally-run city hotel within easy walking distance of all the main tourist atractions in the Old City then this place fits the bill admirably. The staff are friendly, helpful and informative, and cater for a wide variety of nationalities and cultures.

The rooms are on the small side and can get stuffy. The air-conditioning is not operative at this time of year but we were provided with a fan within minutes of asking.

Breakfast is served on a rooftop restaurant with panoramic views; all tastes are well catered for, with the exception of pork. The restaurant is shared with a sister hotel (Sultania, also reviewed) which is back-to-back. Other shared facilities include a spa, Turkish bath and indoor pool. There is a street level restaurant (Sultania) which has the same dinner menu as the rooftop restaurant (Olive) but here, the range of dishes tends to be narrow and uninspiring and the food is rather bland. There is good competition from a wide variety of local bars and restaurants. There is also a tram-stop (Gulhane) at the end of the street for those wishing to travel further afield.

Location, cleanliness, and the helpfulness of the staff are this hotel's strong points. Strongly recommended.

The staff was the main reason we were so taken with this hotel. Both Zumre Asal and the gentleman who arranged our transportation to and from the airports were exceptionally helpful. After staying 3 nights, we returned for 2 more after visiting other Turkish sites. Breakfast(and dining room) were a highlight. We'll be back!

We just came back from Istanbul on Monday 07/04/14, Yamak Sultan is a Great Hotel for visiting Istanbul as it was a walking distance to Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar but we took the tram as my mum can't walk too far. What made make me want to write this review was the friendliness, helpfulness and honest of the staffs - in their recommendations of restaurants, places to visit, etc. . The hotel has a wonderful roof terrace with a wonderful view of Hagia Sofia as we had our delicious breakfast every morning. We had our massages in their Spa, its was amazing - all my knotted muscle was iron out, I felt so relaxed. I will definitely go back to Yamak Sultan Hotel again!

Thank you Zumre and all the staffs in Yamak! From Rohaya Livingstone

Great location, only 5 mins walk to Blue Mosque & very close to tram and other attractions. Very friendly staff, nothing ever a problem. The air conditioning wasn't working in our room, they got us a fan straight away and left a note to say sorry with wine & nibbles. Restaurant has a great view of city.
