“Stay at this hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2009

This is a fantastic location for tourists in Istanbul. A stone's throw to the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia and Topkapi. The roof top terrace had perfect views of these attactractions and the Sea of Marmara and glimpes of the Bosphrus. Not the cheapest hotel around (esp. in high season) but well worth the cost. The tram line is about 2 minutes walk away and lots of fantastic restaurants on the same block (on the downhill side) and plenty of shopping all around. Friendly staff and a good restaurant. The rooms are on the small side, but no more so than the normal hotel in an old town centre. The Java Studio across the side street is a great coffee shop.

I have stayed at the Blue House for several years, and each time it looks as fresh as when it was new. The location is the best and the staff is wonderful. The rooms are somewhat small, as are the baths, but everthing is kept in beautiful condition. There is a wonderful breakfast and a very pleasant dinning area inside, and weather permitting, outside.
I would recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to be in the historic center of Istanbul. It is a great value and satisfactory in everyway. CML Atlanta, GA. USA

You could not improve on the location. The view of the Blue Mosque from our hotel room on the third floor was stunning.

The hotel staff exceeded our expectations. They helped us book a tour to Ephesus and gave us advice about the location of surrounding attractions.

Our room was very well appointed. The food was exceptional. We really appreciated the free internet in the lobby.

My grandfather and I will recommend this hotel to all of our friends in Canada who travel to Istanbul.

What can I say that others haven't? The Blue House was wonderful. The hotel staff was fantastic, handling our check-in efficiently when we arrived late at 2:00AM. The rooms were typically European, a bit on the small side (but we had three beds in ours) but beautifully decorated, with fresh, crisp linens, clean floors, bed covers and so on. Very nice sitting area and bar downstairs with a separate computer (with internet) for customer use, and an absolutely wonderful breakfast and dining area. The breakfast was exceptionally diverse and plentiful, one of the best during our stay in Turkey.

But the location of the Blue House makes it a "must stay" -- literally 150 meters from the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, and maybe 250 meters to the nearest tram stop. Everything of importance is located nearby and within walking distance (in good weather).

Fantastic stay -- great rooms, hotel staff, breakfast, location, all at a reasonable (for Istanbul) price.

Fantastic location, if you can get one of the front rooms you'll have a view of the wonderful Blue Mosque. Very central, clean hotel with a fabulous roof top view over the city and the Bosphorous.

Blue House is in such a brilliant location in Sultanahmet that you would forgive any minor hotel niggles...but how great that weary (and one pregnant) traveler didn't have to! The rooms were perfect (a little small in the bathroom perhaps), clean, well appointed and had stunning views of the Blue Mosque just over the road.

Breakfast, included in the tariff, was the best we had in Turkey - a lovely spread of all things local from sensational tomatoes, olives and fluffy Turkish bread to dried fruits, local honey, hot local pastries, yoghurt, juices coffee and tea. Yum! Just what you need for day of exploring Topkapi Palace, Aya Sofia and the Grand Bazaar.

The porters were very attentive and helpful with our bags and umbrella on the day it rained. Reception staff were very nice, although perhaps a little shy. English was well spoken by everyone there.

The call to prayer at dawn from the Mosque was quite loud being so close, but it doesn't last long and is all part of the marvelous experience of staying in Sultanahmet.

Go - Blue House is great..

My friend offered me to read the reviews of the hotels in tripadvisor.com so i have found the hotel and contacted them directly and booked it for 4 nights at the end of October. The Location was the reason for me to choose the hotel and definetly the location can not be better than this as it is located at the center of all the historical sights. But when it comes to the rooms i can not say that i have satisfied at all. First of all the rooms are tiny and also the bathroom is one of the smallest i have ever seen which you can not even move inside. When you ask if they have a bigger room or not, the staff told me that it is the biggest room in the hotel but i have just seen the next door is much bigger than our room. As a conclusion i can clearly say that this hotel is overpriced. If you pay that money you can find a hotel with two times bigger rooms and larger showers.
