“A great choice in old Sultanamet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2012

I recently spent six night at the Dersaadet. This is a quiet, tastefully decorated small hotel well located for major sights. The front office staff couldn't have been more helpful. An email from the hotel in advance of arrival summarizes weather forecasts and opening days and hours for major tourist sights, very helpful in planning your itineraries. There is a pleasant breakfast terrace that looks out on the Marmara. The rooms are reasonably priced. As a single traveler, I felt safe and well-cared for at this hotel. I highly recommend the Dersaadet.

We just had a fine 4-day stay at the Dersaadet and enjoyed ourselves very much. It's a hotel with an attentive but not obstrusive staff, and it has a lot of character. It's in a fine location in old town, just a short walk from the main sites most visitors want to see. There's a lovely terrace on the top floor with outdoor seating overlooking the water to the south from which you can hear the call for prayer; photo shows full moon on from terrace on June 5, 2012.

What a wonderful hotel! It was bang next to all the sights but just round the corner away from the crowds. The staff could not have been more kind or friendly. Our room was comfortable and had a great sea view. The breakfast which is taken on a roof garden overlooking the sea, was brilliant and later, you can have drinks up there till 11.30pm and watch the sun set and the moon rise. They even have good wine which was hard to fine in Istanbul. The restaurant they recommended was one of the best and cheapest of our whole stay and because we had such an early flight and missed our breakfast, they made us sandwiches to take with us. 10 out of 10.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view of the sea cost extra but that is the same everywhere in Istanbul.

Staying at the Dersaadet, I believe, truly enriched our travel experience in Istanbul. Hotel management was very easy to converse with over email prior to our arrival; they arranged safe, clean and convenient transportation to and from the airport. Upon arrival, we were greeted with authentic Turkish apple tea. Check-in was a fluid and comfortable process. While our room had a genuine Turkish bath, which was not only beautiful, but also functional, we were a bit disappointed to be on ground level. Nonetheless, it was reasonably inexpensive, yet comfortable, with absolutely enchanting furnishing and decor, that I could not help being pleased. And how much time do you want to spend in your hotel room anyway? Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was incredibly magical with amazing views of the Bosphorus, Golden Horn and Sea of Marmara. Do not miss evening drinks up there either -stunning nighttime views! The Dersaadet staff provided perfect 5-star service. Our room always clean and every question answered promptly, everyone from housekeeping to reception staff was at our beck-and-call and ever at-the-ready to serve their guests. I will stay nowhere but the Dersaadet when I return to Istanbul. Next time, we will book a suite with views of the Bosphorus. Only how will I ever leave the view then? Truly, staying at the Dersaadet will only make your Istanbul experience more magical.

Room Tip: Great location if you are going to explore the Old and New Cities as well as Asian Istanbul!

Absolutely nothing to complain about. Rooms beautiful and clean with a wonderful lobby and warm and friendly staff. Roof top deck to die for. Grea views of the Marmara Sea and the Blue mosque. Free breakfast is a feast!

This tiny hotel in a residential neighborhood offered service with a smile and more.
Located in the old Sultanahmet District and close to the Arista Bazaar and some great eating establishments.
The hotel offered rooms of different sizes and accommodation and we chose an end room with our own bathroom but without the Turkish bath.
The front office staff gave us such a wonderful welcome and with nice touch of the Apple tea and the Turkish Delight. The front office staff spent a lot of time to make our visit so special and the small but important tasks that you undertook for us such as calling taxis, recommending restaurants and giving us advice on how to get to destinations and how to avoid being ripped off by. This hotel picked us up from our cruise ship and arranged for our transfer to the airport for our one day trip to Cappadocia. They also recommended that we purchase the Museum Pass which saved us so much time not having to line up to buy tickets and allowed us to visit the very special Harem in the Topakapi Palace, something we would not have know about on our own.
We loved the spectacular view of the Bosphorus from the breakfast room on the top floor and wished we had spent more time just sitting there, but there was so much to see and do in Istanbul that we hurried off after a lovely breakfast and where I was able to order delicious Turkish coffees for a small cost.
We will return!

My husband and I stayed at the Dersaadet for 2 nights in May before joining a cruise. We couldn't have been happier with the hotel and the staff. We were close to many attractions ( one block from the Blue Mosque) and the area had many good restaurants which were recommended by the helpful staff. There is a roof terrace where an excellent breakfast is served and drinks are served there in the afternoon and at night. The view is lovely. We moved to the Istanbul Hilton on the 3rd night because it was provided free by the cruise - big mistake. The Hilton is a luxury hotel but in an area that looks like any other big city. We had a lot more fun at the Dersaadet and would love to return there.
