“Great Location...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

Stayed there for a quick city break in istanbul. Location is perfect so close (5min walk) to Istanbul historical attractions (Sultan Ahmet, Aya Sofia, Top Kapi, Basilica cistern, Grand Bazar). Room price was ok compared to hotels in same area. room was clean but furniture was outdated. Windows are not completely preventing the street noise. Staff were helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was a clear disadvantage but wasn't a big deal for me since many restaurants and cafes were close. Terrace has views of Sultan Ahmet & Marmara.
Generally i recommend it for short stay and if you prefer to spend most of your time outdoors.

Stayed 3 nights in the Azade Hotel recently. Beware of their Website ! Great photos, reality does not match these photos at all.
We got a room facing the Bosporus so no complaints here. Room was small, bathroom even smaller.
Breakfast was quite monotonous like we read in previous comments. Very annoying the number of big birds flying in at breakfast time picking into the bread, the fruits and whatever and none of the staff bothers to chase them away. One woman next to us nearly vomitted and refused to have breakfast.
Otherwise, the hotel is in an excellent location exploring the major sightseeings of Istanbul on foot, big number of restaurants nearby as well.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 3rd floor facing the Bosporus, no call from any mosque in the morning, you sle...

Stayed in 3 Istanbul hotels during our month in Turkey.... this was the loser. Other two were on our own-- this one was part of a Rick Steves Tour (which I reviewed briefly on Fodors Forum.) What a disappointment this was as the first tour spot.

What was good? View from the breakfast room. Location. Charming decorating touches like traditional rugs and window trimming. Tea and treats afternoons in the lobby.

What was a disapointment? No free bottle of water per day. They charged a LOT if you wanted to buy one... (beware. Their prices are in Euros, not Turkish Lira. ) Poor internet connection. Cool and unfriendly front desk staff who give it a corporate feel. So-so breakfast selection. ... and a very real problem with birds constantly landing on their trays of food at breakfast... saw this each morning at breakfast-- there must be something they can do about this... a real stomach-turner! Construction outside our room window.. There are much better choices for less money in Istanbul... this hotel is cute on the outside, but just so-so on the inside. Would rate this hotel between poor and average,

The hotel is very close to the main old city attractions Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Topa Kapi, only 3 min walk from them. Very good view on the inner streets in the old city. Very friendly staff.

Only breakfast is a downside, but for us was not a big deal, as we still have enjoyed our time.

Room Tip: our room was on the 2nd floor, this was excellent, it has a view on the street, rooms are well isola...

This hotel is in a good location but, other than that, I would give it very poor marks. I don't expect tours to have the best hotel available but I do expect them to clean sleeping quarters and pleasant eating conditions. The room that I stayed in was very musty and the bathroom was not clean. Breakfast served on the roof top terrace was really unacceptable. I have no idea what the tour paid for this hotel room but the rack rate posted at the front desk was way too high for the quality of this place.

The Azade is located within an old Ottoman wooden house in a super location for exploring the main sites - Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque etc etc. It is not very modern but was acceptably clean and the staff were very good. Breakfast is served on the roof top terrace with fabulous views over the Bospherous to one side and the Blue Mosque to the other. There are plenty of restaurants within a very few minutes of the hotel and some very nice shops are well selling more than the usual tourist trinkets. I would recommend this hotel for a short city break.

Room Tip: Try to get one overlooking the Bospherous
