“Great location, not so great room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

Our travel agent in Turkey (Sojourn Turkey) told us that we had been 'upgraded' to this hotel since it was much better than our earlier selection. We took the agent's word for it. It is located on the Sea of Marmara. The location cannot be beat. Our room on the other hand was at the back of the hotel overlooking a rear alleyway. The room was small but that was not a problem in and of itself. It was well appointed and had all the amenities that we needed. Since we were busy sightseeing we did not spend a lot of time in this room.
The staff was consistently polite with the exception of the gent who runs the restaurant. He was mostly dour and grumpy. The breakfast spread was very good and the restaurant with a beautiful view of the Sea of Marmara was a great place to eat. The one dinner we ate at this restaurant was adequate and will do in a pinch.
The lady concierge was very good and efficient. She was able to help us with all our reservations and tickets for the Mevlevi Sema ceremony at the Hodgapasha center.
Without an ocean view room this was a wasted 'upgrade'. Would have been better off staying someplace with out a view. I admit it was my fault for not making this clear to the travel agent.

Room Tip: Make sure you get an ocean view room when you book.

This Hotel is located at a Coast Boulevard and meets a very good standard. The rooms offer all what is really needed, the cleanliness is very good. There is even a bed turndown service every day, where they placed every day a piece of chocolate on the pillow, along with a card showing next days weather forecast. The personell is extremly friendly and helpful, doing so without the typical oriental habit of expecting a tip all the time. The breakfast is overcomplete, even offering honeycomb from the beeyard. Concerning excursions to the City, at the backside of the Hotel Lobby there is an extra door guests may use for quick access to the little roads showing typical Turkish atmosphere and leading within 10 Minutes walk to the Blue Mosque and to Hagia Sophia Mosque, as well as to a multitude of small and nice restaurants. Also the Metro tram leaves there to the other side of Istanbul. So, in total I must say, this is an excellent place to go, there was absolutely nothing to complain, I can therefore suggest to other travellers to go there.

Room Tip: Rooms to the backside are a bit more quiet, as in front of the Hotel there is a road with a lot of t...

I was not sure what to expect. I had one day for sight seeing and this hotel was recommended by a Turkish Business Group. I normally stay at international chains. From the moment I arrived to my check out I was treated with Turkish hospitality. The service is very friendly. I had reserved a room with a view of the Bosphorus and it was well worth it.
The room was spacious, very comfortable and exceptionally clean. I was also happy with the strong shower pressure.
You can walk to the Sultanahmet historic area and the Grand Bazaar. For dinner there are many fish restaurants near by in the water.
The hotel also has a nice breakfast buffet for 30 TL which was good and fresh.
I am now a fan of this hotel and will recommend to friends. Great service, room and location. What more can one ask for.

The location of this hotel is excellent. Book one of the with sea facing rooms, and that would be fantastic. It is only 10 minutes away from the Blue Mosque on foot though a bit of a steep climb. Staff are very efficient and helpful and the rooms are serviced twice a day which is wonderful. If anything, this hotel would be perfect if it had spa facilities on site as they do seem to have enough space to accomodate this.

The view from our room facing the Marmara Sea is fantastic but need to pay 20 Euros extra for the privilege. The room is clean and aircon is nice and quiet. Staff is efficient and helpful especially at the restaurant but a few at the front desk look very serious, do not smile enough. The buffet breakfast is adequate but boring as the variety did not change even after 6 days of stay. I could be blindfolded and would be able to pick out my food correctly due to the monotony. The housekeeper is very calculating as she couldn't even give us an extra bottle of water even after we had stayed for 6 days!
The location is their best asset as it only takes 5 mins to get to all the tour sites at the back of the hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the sea.

The only thing going for this hotle is its location, really. But there are many more hotels in this location... I spent three nights in this hotel on business. I got the classic room which is a simple queen (or full?) bed room for 92Euros, not including VAT, nor breakfast. (Breakfast is additional 14Euros, if you so choose.)
The good: Location, AC, free WiFi in room. Helpful staff. The not so good: Hotel is getting older, and is somewhat rundown. I was going to say that it is clean, until I walked into the shower and found myself staring at too much black mold in the grout between the tiles. Room is small, and there is not much beside a bed. There is a tiny desk, but if you are here on business, or a traveler who wants to do some computer work, this desk is not really sufficient for that. There is a small bench in the room, which your luggage will be placed on. Thus, really, there is the bed and not much space around it. The safe in the room is not bolted down and can be simply hauled away with your money and passports in it. So if you were thinking about placing them there, think again. The (moldy) shower is also very tiny, and you are likely to hit each wall, and each of the half-round doors while trying to take a shower. Be careful when stepping out of the shower with wet feet, as the step down to the bathrrom floor is unusually and dangerously high. While everything in my room worked fine, at a colleagues room, only one light bulb worked and his room was dark. All in all, for that price, you can do better elswhere.

Room Tip: If you do choose to stay here, ask for a sea view. It's beautiful.

Nice hotel with great location. Situated on the sea with the back towards the old city. The old city area is easily accessible from the rear gate and you could walk to all the major sites like the blue mosque, Sofia Hagia, Topakapi palace, the Royal Cisterns and the grand bazaar. The great thing about the hotel is its easy approach from the Airport as well as the major sites. The rooms are comfortable and its good value for money..
