Stayed here in October. Apply for Turkish visa on line to save some time. Otherwise be prepared to wait in the visa line (cash only USD, TYL and EUR) and then wait in a long passport control line. Found the entire entering/exiting passport control process to be chaotic and time consuming. Also note that the complimentary shuttle service from the airport to the hotel runs on the :30 and is to the far right on the arrivals level across one street. You will see a Renaissance sign at the pickup point and a grey/silver Renaissance van. I arrived at :33 and the shuttle had already left. Not wanting to wait, I took a yellow cab with meter to the hotel for TYL 14.
I found the property itself up to date and very well maintained except for a few dings here and there. My check-in experience was okay apart from a lengthy wait. I was upgraded to a beautiful room on the 24th floor. Amazing view of the sea with gorgeous sunrise and sunset. My welcome amenity was quickly delivered. My second night a “surprise” amenity was also delivered. This was a very thoughtful touch.
I found the location to be quiet and nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist areas. The hotel does have daily shuttle service to Taksim for those who want to venture out to the downtown sections. It is also very easy and efficient to take a ferry to the Asian side. Navigator can give you directions. Hotel location is in a more quiet residential area, however there are a few shops and local restaurants nearby. Also a few malls within a short taxi ride distance.
Being that the executive lounge was closed for servicing the week I was there; we were told to have breakfast at Daphne’s and other presentations at La Noblesse. Happy hour service at La Noblesse was horrible. In my many, many nights staying at Marriott properties, as a Platinum Premier Marriott Rewards member, I have never encountered such poor and nonexistent service. There was plenty of staff, but as many have mentioned in social networking and travel blogs, most were busy ignoring the guests. I waited patiently for 1 hour to get a drink refill. I finally approached the bar manager, who was neither apologetic nor helpful, Noblesse was not busy at all that evening. I find this type of service disgraceful to Marriott guests. On a happier note, I found the staff service at Daphne’s to be excellent. Server Bora was friendly and really went out of his way to ensure his guests were well taken care of. Job very well done. The staff at Champions was also very accommodating and friendly. There are enough restaurants on site to satisfy the most picky eater if one chooses to stay on property.
Internet was another small issue. I was constantly getting bumped out and then told my credentials were already in use, especially if leaving one area of the hotel for another. I would repeatedly have to call AYS to get new login credentials. This became a hassle and affected my productivity. Apparently the system gets confused when one uses multiple devices.
Workout facility is also a local gym, so be prepared for crowds at peak workout times in the evening and mornings.
Checking out again proved to be a lengthy process. I waited for over 20 minutes to be attended to, and there were only 2 people ahead of me in line. However, other guests like to cut the line, and were attended to first. This needs to stop. Staff should send those not in line back to the end of the queue rather than encouraging this behavior. Shuttle to the airport leaves hotel on the :30 as well. Also note to allow extra time as passport control prior to entering security is long and tedious. I waited over 35 minutes.
I would stay at this property again, but hoping to have better service at Noblesse next time. Apart from the lengthy waits at reception and some service lapses, I found my stay relaxing and trouble free.
Try and get a sea facing room.
