5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

We just returned last night (to our home in Ohio) from staying 5 nights at the Ritz Carlton Istanbul. We stayed on the 12th floor, which was the Club Level. The Club Level had an eating area where snacks and drinks were provided all day. Continental breakfasts were served each morning. We are picky eaters and the food was not all Turkish; they incorporated American food as well. The majority of the time, we had the same two concierges: Deniz and Mesut. They called us by name each time we saw them. They were fantastic! Whatever we wanted or needed, they handled it for us. They spoke English very well. Most all of the Ritz Carlton Istanbul employees spoke English, in addition to their native tongue. It seemed that when the Ritz Carlton reserved a restaurant or activity for you, their name carried clout and you were most likely to get a great table or a great seat. They arranged a 4 hour tour for us with an English speaking tour guide for the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and Topkapi Palace. We thought the price was fair and the tour guide was worth every penny. Security at the Ritz Carlton was also top notch. They made every taxi open their trunk and they looked underneath each taxi with a mirror. Once inside, you had to go through a security scan. We felt very safe there. It was wonderful to come "home" to the hotel staff and the hotel's opulence each night after being hot and sweaty all day. The hotel was air conditioned, smelled like rose Turkish delight, and was kept squeaky clean (literally...our sandals squeaked as we walked across the marble floors). If you stay here, request the concierge reserve seats for you at the Mevlevi Sema Ceremony (Whirling Dervishes) at the Hocapasa (HodjaPasha) Culture Center. If we ever come back to Istanbul, we will only stay at the Ritz Carlton Istanbul.

Room Tip: Club Level-floor 12-concierges know you by name and complimentary food and drinks are available all...

As usual, no falt in this hotel chain. Located on high hill above the water way to the Black Sea. Love the restaurant, Bar location with open roof bring nice briz in the evening. and the service is superb.

Room Tip: Ask for room facing the waterway.

We booked 14 nights last September (2012) in this expensive hotel and checked out after 4 nights (thank heavens for having booked it on a day-by-day basis). The biggest problem was the airconditioning did not work until we complained. The concierge accepted that the hotel had a problem with the airconditioning, but when I subsequently asked the manager for compenstion for the problem he advised that all that his engineer had to do was to go to the room and turn the aircondition down. In other words we were incompetent as far as setting the airconditioning! We don't get this sort of problem at the Four Seasons or Mandarin Oriental hotels. Other problems included that even though we paid for a view of the Bosphorus, the windows were dirty and spoiled the view and the duvet was winter grade in a hot climate. There was a high level of security, which alarmed my wife, but what alarmed me more was that they were not thorough in their security measures, i.e. if you have body scanners and luggage scanners then it has to be applied rigidly, as at UK airports, not half heartedly, as this just puts the hotel and its guests at risk. Finally, whilst some of the staff were good it, was patchy; in Four Seasons hotels everyone is pleased to see you and the service is excellent. Even the Ritz-Carlton HQ would not make any allowance for our bad experience so not only will we not be returning to the Ritz-Carlton Istanbul, but we will avoid all Ritz-Carlton hotels until such time as Marriott brings them up to scratch - we have stayed in some Marriott hotels which had much better customer service than this Ritz-Carlton.

The bar is extremely expensive!! A beer is moreexpensive than what it cost in the bar in the Four seasons sultanahmet overviewing the old sites of the city (go there if you go to Istanbul for a drink, the view is amazing!!)
The rooms where ok, the view was nice we could see the bosphorus from a side if our window.
They did a nice gesture, sice we were in our honeymoon to put rose petals, heart ballonsand dessert in our room when we arrived, which was really nice.

To start with upon check in the non smoking room which I got it confirmed was replaced by a smoking rooms and the reception refused to find a solution, even when I asked for the duty manager and showed my booking still no solution and had to pay for an upgrade .... The rooms fittings are good .... The gym is very small and the gym equipments are old and most are not working ... It is really not good value for money and for similar price go the park Hyatt or Swiss hotel or the new boutique hotels in Istanbul

My wife and I stayed at the Ritz for 4 days at the end of an AMA Danube river cruise. We checked in on the 3rd day of the Taksim protests. We watched tear gas and water canons from our room for the next 4 nights. Everyone else from our river cruise moved to another hotel. We were super impressed with the professionalism and security. We had a great, spacious room with access to the club floor amenities. Great pool deck and 24 hour restaurant. Best part was the service. The staff is simply the best. Everyone was wonderful and very considerate, given the proximity to Taksim. We especially want to give a shout out to Ms Deniz Guley and Ms Natavan. They were both extremely helpful and super friendly. there are other luxury hotels in Istanbul, but I don't think its possible that they could offer better service or comfort.

Room Tip: Hi up. Park view. Club access.

We stayed for 3 nights, 2 at the beginning of our Scenic coach tour of Turkey & one at the end. f the is a classy hotel the bedrooms & facilities in it all you would wish for. In the guest information folder it request visitors to be smartly dressed in keeping with the level of the hotel. We went to the garden restuarant & bar which was not really very big & were surprised to see the waiters & waitresses in jeans & trainers some with slashes in the jeans they added a white coat coat to give them the accepted waiter look. This is not what we would think would follow the guidelines set down for visitors. We went to the main restauarant for dinner & found it empty, we were the only diners. My husband had a very poor steak & after complaining the manager offered a replacement which was not accepted so he deducted that meal from the rn bill & hoped to see us the next night to ensure he had a much better one.Overall the service was very good .
