“Clean hotel in perfect location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

We stayed here for 6 nights on our recent trip to Istanbul. The hotel is very clean and our room (a deluxe double) was large and included a jacuzzi tub. The breakfast every morning is adequate and has alot of choices. The hotel staff were pleasant and friendly. The included free airport pickup was nice as it was one less thing to stress about.

The best thing about the hotel is the location. It's right between the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque - only a 2 minute walk to each. Also, the Arasta Bazaar is right down the street and is alot less overwhelming than the Grand Bazaar. The view from the rooftop of the Uyan is amazing.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Location is everything and the Uyan fit the bill perfectly. Rooms are not large but I think the same as most other small hotels in this location at this price. Free airport pickup with 3 night stay. Good fresh breakfast. Staff was most helpful, especially Ahmet and the other night staff. They even let us store our bags while we did a little side visit to Ephesus. Great value.

Room Tip: Elevator so probably doesn't matter.

Situated in the old city, this attractive and clean hotel is convenient to all the major sights. It is steps away from the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and the Cistern, as well as the Grand Bazaar. A good breakfast is included, and there are many restaurants nearby serving all different types of food. Shops located steps away, as well as a small, but very good bazaar. The price was very reasonable, the staff was very helpful and accommodating, and airport pickup was provided as we stayed 3 nights. Though our room was on the small side (two single beds for two women travelers), it was on the first floor where there was a nice common area with a TV which we took advantage of. If returning to Istanbul, I would definitely stay here again!

my room (single bedroom) was not huge but adequately comfortable and very clean. you will the muezzin (call for prayer) from pretty much anywhere in istanbul - hotel uyan is no exception. i forgot to bring an adapter for my cell phone charger, the guy at the reception provided me with a loaner at no cost, which was awesome. the breakfast was very good - and the view from the roof-top dining area is breathtaking.

if you book the hotel through their website directly, hotel transfer will be included in the price. I got an incredible through hotels.com and had to book my own transportation. i used http://www.istanbulairport24.com/ - they were great.

overall my stay at hotel uyan was fantastic and i would go back in a heartbeat. i fell in love with the city, the people, the food, and can recommend it as a vacation destination to anyone.

Uyan Hotel is located near the Blue Mosque so it is very convenient base for sightseeing in the old part of Istanbul. The staff is very helpful and friendly, rates are more than reasonable, interiors are cosy.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

My friends and I recently stayed at the Uyan Hotel for four days in February. We picked the hotel because of the value offered and mostly for its location, which is between the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia in the Sultanahmet District.
Service: The front desk was quite helpful. We did not use them as much as others might as we had some Turkish friends to guide us around. When asked for restaurant recommendations we were only given one, which we assume has some sort of deal with the hotel. We chose something different and the desk was able to coordinate the reservation for us.
Value: The price per night at this location is quite good. I would have given this 5 stars if not for some minor issues I will discuss below.
Sleep Quality: Our room was on the fourth floor which is the same as the breakfast area and also the stairs that lead to the rooftop terrace. Every morning at around 7 AM it would get increasingly loud and you could hear it in the room, especially when people decided to climb the stairs to the roof. Additionally, the blinds did not stop the morning light from coming right into the room. Despite requesting a double bed when I booked online we were given two singled beds which were then pushed together. This also lowered the sleep quality and was not an isolated event as all three of the rooms we requested had some sort of booking issue at check-in.
Cleanliness: No issues here. Everything was clean and made up daily.
Location: Excellent location. The hotel is a little difficult to locate at first but once you know how to get there it is a great location. You know it must be good as it is less than a 100 meters from the Four Seasons. The Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque are a five minute walk with maybe 7-10 minutes to get to the tram stop. This is definitely the touristy area but there are a lot of sights in the area and the view from the roof is magnificent, especially at night.
Rooms: Rooms will vary. The photos pictured show only the best of the rooms. Of the rooms our group booked, one was drasticaly larger than the other and included a larger bathroom. There was a wardrobe with ten hangars but no drawers for storing other clothing. Everything else regarding rooms was covered above in sleep quality.

Room Tip: Stay away from the fourth floor if you are a light sleeper. There is a lot of noise, especially in t...
