my room (single bedroom) was not huge but adequately comfortable and very clean. you will the muezzin (call for prayer) from pretty much anywhere in istanbul - hotel uyan is no exception. i forgot to bring an adapter for my cell phone charger, the guy at the reception provided me with a loaner at no cost, which was awesome. the breakfast was very good - and the view from the roof-top dining area is breathtaking.

if you book the hotel through their website directly, hotel transfer will be included in the price. I got an incredible through hotels.com and had to book my own transportation. i used http://www.istanbulairport24.com/ - they were great.

overall my stay at hotel uyan was fantastic and i would go back in a heartbeat. i fell in love with the city, the people, the food, and can recommend it as a vacation destination to anyone.

Uyan Hotel is located near the Blue Mosque so it is very convenient base for sightseeing in the old part of Istanbul. The staff is very helpful and friendly, rates are more than reasonable, interiors are cosy.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

My friends and I recently stayed at the Uyan Hotel for four days in February. We picked the hotel because of the value offered and mostly for its location, which is between the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia in the Sultanahmet District.
Service: The front desk was quite helpful. We did not use them as much as others might as we had some Turkish friends to guide us around. When asked for restaurant recommendations we were only given one, which we assume has some sort of deal with the hotel. We chose something different and the desk was able to coordinate the reservation for us.
Value: The price per night at this location is quite good. I would have given this 5 stars if not for some minor issues I will discuss below.
Sleep Quality: Our room was on the fourth floor which is the same as the breakfast area and also the stairs that lead to the rooftop terrace. Every morning at around 7 AM it would get increasingly loud and you could hear it in the room, especially when people decided to climb the stairs to the roof. Additionally, the blinds did not stop the morning light from coming right into the room. Despite requesting a double bed when I booked online we were given two singled beds which were then pushed together. This also lowered the sleep quality and was not an isolated event as all three of the rooms we requested had some sort of booking issue at check-in.
Cleanliness: No issues here. Everything was clean and made up daily.
Location: Excellent location. The hotel is a little difficult to locate at first but once you know how to get there it is a great location. You know it must be good as it is less than a 100 meters from the Four Seasons. The Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque are a five minute walk with maybe 7-10 minutes to get to the tram stop. This is definitely the touristy area but there are a lot of sights in the area and the view from the roof is magnificent, especially at night.
Rooms: Rooms will vary. The photos pictured show only the best of the rooms. Of the rooms our group booked, one was drasticaly larger than the other and included a larger bathroom. There was a wardrobe with ten hangars but no drawers for storing other clothing. Everything else regarding rooms was covered above in sleep quality.

Room Tip: Stay away from the fourth floor if you are a light sleeper. There is a lot of noise, especially in t...

Stayed here for 4 nights in February in the basement apartment. More than enough room for 3 kids (3, 4, and 6); they could stretch their legs safely in the open living room. In room refrigerator (full sized) was handy & prov All members of the staff were very friendly and courteous. Excellent price and location - as the other reviewers state no more than a 2-3 minute walk to the center of the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and Topkapi Palace area. Would stay again!

I stayed here with a friend of mine for 3 nights in November 2012. Initially the location was a little difficult to find since the hotel is literally tucked in between and behind Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, but once we did-wow, what a great location! We were able to easily walk to Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazar, Topkapi, the Underground Cisterns, great restaurants and shops, etc etc. The hotel is located about a 5-10 minute walk from the Sultanahmet (Blue Mosque) stop on the Tramvay, which serves much of Istanbul. The room itself was gorgeous, spacious, and incredibly clean. There was a lovely dining area on the 4th floor which served a delicious complimentary breakfast. Do yourself a favor when enjoying breakfast there and go outside and up the stairs. The hotel has a fantastic rooftop with AMAZING views of the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, don't miss it. The hotel staff was friendly and wonderful and helped us book a 5AM shuttle to the Sabiha Gonen Airport. The rate was also excellent. Overall, you can't miss with this hotel.

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights with family in the basement apartment in early Dec 2012. Hotel is clean in tidy. Room was comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful. Big thanks to staff of the hotel, Ahmet and his mates, were extremely friendly and helpful. Location of the hotel could not be better, not more than 100 metres from the main square in front of the Blue Mosque. Walking distance to main tourist attractions including shopping. Our stay in Istanbul was very short, not enough to see everything. Next time we know where to stay.
