It is a historical district of Istanbul, the heart of the city. A very authentic place with many tourist attactions. One can get so much pleasure just simply walking there. It is wonderful especially at night.
So many sites to see, museums to visit, places to eat. The restaurants are amazing and it's hard to pick one. Just walking along the small roads is amazing. Sit and enjoy an ice cream cone and watch the people walk by.
Imposing buildings from the Byzantine period! But beware of the numerous tourist traps.... It`s unfortunate but most restaurants and cafe`s in close proximity are not service mind but only into taking your money.
This is the number one area to see in Istanbul, even though it is touristy. You can walk to all the sites very easily or take the modern tram which is convenient. Nice tourist shops as well.
Sultanahmet is the historic part of Istanbul where almost all the historic attraction are located. The area is very walkable and all attractions lead to one another.
