“Take a stroll”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

This district is touristy, but that doesn't stop it from having lots of local color and flair. Walk around and take it all in. Stop have a coffee or tea while you stroll the streets and tour the sights.

“Beautiful with History and Culture”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

I stayed in the Sultanahmet District for 2 days and had a great time wandering on foot. There is so much history in the area that has been preserved, from the cobblestone roads to the buildings. If you stay here then you will be able to get to all the major attractions in the area by walking. A tram will drop you off right in the heart of the area. I felt 2 days was perfect to see most of the major sights without rushing, but I did not get to see anything else in Istanbul. Also keep in mind that a lot of attractions close around 5:30-6:00p (at least in November), so plan your trip accordingly.

“Wonderfull...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

I stayed nearby Sultanahmet District. My hotel are nearby by walking distance. The are are full of shops, restaurants etc. Try on the restaurants along the roads, they serve good food and good hospitality.
The tram are nearby which we can travel to spice bazaar and Grand Bazaar easily. Just purchase the Istanbul Kart, start being the locals.
Not much shopping complex around this area, have to go a bit far out from the district. There is a lot of outlet centers such ad Olivium, Kale etc...
The public transportation a jut within reach, easy and fast..taxi is a bit expensive though, try to use Tram or Metro services.

“Heart of the city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

The Sultanahmet area is the best place to be its so accessible to the cultural attractions such as The Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Archeological Museum and for shopping The Grand Bazaar and the Egyptian Bazaar. These are all within walking distance and believe its worth not to take a taxi or tram. There are great reasonably priced restaurants and such a great atmosphere. I just love sitting taking in the local street life and the friendly locals. It's like no other place in the world it gets under your skin. I've travelled all over the world but this area of Istanbul is unique.
