I have stayed at the Hilton Istanbul twice, most recently in June 2013 when I stayed in an executive floor room with lounge access. It is a lovely hotel, with excellent facilities within the room and extensive grounds. It is classic and perhaps a little dated in decor (at least in my eyes) but very well appointed and everything works as it should. It has a lovely pool area and the Lebanese Restaurant is very nice - a lot of the public spaces, including the outdoor restaurants and bars have beautiful aspects over the Bosphorus in this wonderful city. It is nicely located for Taksim Square and surrounding businesses - less so for Sultanahmet. The rooms are spacious and comfortable - my previous visit was in a non-executive room in a different block of the hotel and I did not notice any particular difference other than lounge access. The executive lounge is well stocked with food and drinks and attended by very friendly staff, although despite the wonderful view it felt somehow a little bit soulless in what could be a showcase location. The room rates are high - although I found the bars and restaurants to be reasonable in price and certainly of good quality and in fairness Istanbul is an expensive city for accommodation. If good rates are available it is certainly to be recommended.
