“Wonderful hotel and Great Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

My wife and I along with 2 kids stayed at the Grand Hyatt for 4 nights whilst visiting Istanbul for the first time. We stayed on the 6th floor and we really hoping for a larger room to accommodate us but the cost difference between the suite and the room we had was a little steep for me. Being a platinum Hyatt member, the reception staff was nice enough to throw in access to the Club Lounge which was definitely a perk that kids appreciated!

The hotel is beautiful and the pool is breath taking. We made sure to set some time aside to enjoy the pool. The walk to Taksim square is about 10 mins and easy access to the Metro. The tram is also a relatively short walk (10 or 15 mins) and provides easy access to the Sultanahmed area where alot of attractions are located. Being in Taksim we spent quite a bit of time on Istkitlal street enjoying the Turkish ice-cream (or tricky ice-cream as my kids called for the comedy that was included in the purchase of a cone!).

The staff at the Grand Hyatt were wonderful and more than happy to answer any question and accommodate almost any request. I was quite impressed and would definitely stay there again on our next trip to Istanbul!

We stayed on the 9th floor, which was the club level, in a room facing south to the Intercontinental and Taksim Gezi Park. At first I was disappointed in the hotel's location because there is a major construction project in the street on the southern side of the hotel. As it turned out, it is relatively easy to get around the construction, and walk through Gezi Park to Taksim Square and on to the restaurants off Iskitlal St. No, this area is not close to the tourist attractions, but you can get to the attractions via taxi. Being in the new city gives you a good opportunity to experience restaurants and nightlife in a less touristy area.

It also turned out to be a good location because we were there during the 2nd, 3rd and 4th days of the Taksim protests. We actually appreciated this proximity. We were able to walk through the park and the protests, and see how the police over-reacted to the peaceful protests. We learned a lot more from this than we would have gotten from the news. That said, one evening it was not safe to go out, and the hotel staff were wonderful about staying calm and providing solution for those with burning eyes from the tear gas. We ate in the hotel that night (along with most everyone else) and they had a hard time keeping up with the demands of such a large crowd, but it was totally understandable. All in all, very good service and nice staff.

But the best were the services at the club level. I would urge people to upgrade to that if they can. It included a fabulous breakfast, plus a truly amazing array of appetizers and drinks during cocktail hour.

They also have a very nice pool and a good fitness center.

Very good stay at the hotel.
Clean, food excellent and the staff very attend and helpful.
I must mention the fact I was there for 1 night during the stormy days at the "Taksim" square (the hotel is located in the area) and our taxi coming from the airport couldn't reach the hotel entrance since the area was barricaded... the hotel staff did everything possible to get us into the hotel comfortably safe. We had no issues further than that and the hotel staff did everything possible to make us feel comfortable despite the situation.
Internet was free, rate per night reasonable, breakfast very good (a lot of variety and fresh !).
Bottom line - will definitely come back !

My wife and I stayed at Grand Hyatt for our anniversary in June, inspite of the protests that was going on just outside the hotel; it was a memorable trip.

As Hyatt Diamond Member, we were upgraded to an executive suite on 9th floor with stunning view of Bosphorous. The lounge with extensive breakfast items and happy hours was one of the best I have seen at Hyatt Properties. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

I would recommend the hotel once the unrest at Taksim Square has subsided, otherwise you might be holed in the room during evenings/late night. On normal situation, it is only short 15 min walk from Ottoman Palace by Bosphorus and all the shopping at Taksim Square.

But point to note, it is a bit far from Sultanahmet area where all the tourist attractions like Blue Mosque, Hagia Sohie and Basillica Cistern is located.

The Grand Hyatt Istanbul is a great hotel with customer-focused personnel. The Club Floor is well worth the difference, as it includes breakfast, hors d'oeuvres, evening drinks and a place to get away (which as it turned out, we badly needed
that!)

The hotel is centrally-located on Geezi Park and near Taksim Square. It was easy to go into the Old Town to see the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and the Basilica Cistern. It was not so easy to get back to the Hyatt; we got tear-gassed during our desperate attempt to return to the hotel. No taxis would go near the hotel.

Although not the Hyatt's fault at all, we spent most of the rest of the week "sequestered" in the hotel. It was relatively safe to venture out in the mornings to survey the damage and the Dolmabahçe Palace (incredible and
within walking distance of the Hyatt). Our hotel room overlooked the beautiful Bosphorus Straits and unfortunately, the serious police action and demonstrations.

If I ever returned to Istanbul, I would happily stay at the Grand Hyatt due to the employees, the food, the location, and the excellent service.

Room Tip: Splurge for the Club Floor. It is definitely worth it.
