“Good hotel with excelent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2009

This hotel is located on Taksim square which is the heart of lively Istanbul close to night live bars/clubs and shopping area.
The rooms are nice although not very big and all amenities are provided (bathrobes, slippers.....).
The fitness center is very well equiped and also has a nice hammam.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2008

We stayed there 4 nights in september 2008 and here are our comments:

Location: Near Taksim Square (the Modern City/business district). This square is animated and quite noisy at every hour of the day and surely at night. But the hotel is located on the quiet side of the square, so no worry with the traffic noise. Easy to reach with tram, funicular and bus but… try to avoid the bus at the rush hours (unless you take advantage of it to make some sightseeing!). Just an idea: take bus 61B from Taksim to Beyazit (Bus terminus), then take a short walk to Sultanahmet and come back with tramway (from Sultanahmet till Kabatas terminus + funicular): this round trip offers you different views of the city!

Facilities: Great lobby, big centre lights and stairs, everything shines, lots of old wood and gildings. You’re in Istanbul, the rest is just a question of taste… ;-)

Room: 5th floor Deluxe Room with view on the Bosphorus. The kind of view that puts you in a good mood when you get out of bed! The bathroom could surely benefit from a facelift but nothing to really complain about.

Catering: we didn’t take our breakfast there but there are plenty of restaurants nearby on Taksim Square and in the Istiklal Caddesi (“Independence Avenue” = major shopping street).

Reception: polite people, always ready to help you out

Tip: have an overpriced drink at the City Lights bar: breathtaking view on the Bosphorus and partly on Taksim Square!

So, a very good experience at the IC Ceylan Istanbul and we definitely recommend this place!

In center of Istanbul.
Excellent but expensive!
Lots of tasty cheap restaurants outside.

We stayed here for 4 nights and liked almost everything about it. Breakfast buffet is the best ever, and 2nd floor restaurant for dinner is pretty good. Only complaint is the lighting in the room, one person had no reading light. Lovely view of river. Very helpful staff as to tours, great bell captain. We like Intercontinental hotels and are never disappointed. Great maid service too. Highly recommend it - close to all but without the noise and crowds of the square like the Marmara Hotel.

very good hotel with very spacious rooms and if you opt for bosphorus view you get an additional experience with great view of the sea and even Sultanahmet from upper floors. Concierge service was provided by few members but the lady (sorry for not remembering the name) has been very helpfull and extremely charming person. Overall staff is very service minded and in most of cases servicing with a smile. Breakfast buffet wide and thanks god was in price. Otherwise it can get pricey comparing to the local prices. Location next to Taksim can not be better. Rest of places are within short, cheap and clean taxi ride.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2008

Booked a room with Bosphorous view for the weekend. On arrival at 2pm the room was not ready after waiting 1/2 hour we were assigned a corner room with a tiny view of the Bosphorous. On complaining we were given a club room without club benefits and again no view. They finally gave us the room with a view that we had booked and were charging us handsomely for (234 euros room only). It took an hour to get this most of the time being ignored by the reception staff while they checked their computers. Unsurprisingly my feedback form did not elicit a response. Overpriced and not worth it, will stay at the Hilton next time.
