“SURREAL”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

Once you enter this bazaar there is virtually no end to it. It's easy to get lost in all the hallways.
Carpets, china, jewelry, leather jackets and so much, much more. I am not comfortable in haggling, nor do I even know if that's what one does here, but we just looked and looked and looked. Most vendors would leave us alone, which is good, some were a tad too invasive. A
very, very interesting experience and a trip back into history. Free of charge.

“Sensory overload!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

It's hard to imagine 4,000 stalls crammed into one space, but it's certainly possible! We chose to visit Istanbul in October to avoid the heat and crowds of the summer so whilst the market was nicely busy it wasn't a sardine-experience that others might experience earlier in the year.

The stallholders are very persistent so be prepared for that before you enter! However, we marvelled at all the wonderful goods on offer, haggled hard for some beautiful ceramics and enjoyed it immensely. Your children will love it!

“Dhoku rug shops”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

The best shop for rugs in the bazaar and probably in instanbul. No pressure or hassle and very fast shipping. Great quality and price.

“Shopping Gone Wild”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

The Grand Bazaar is indoors. There are 18 different entrances, I believe. There are thousands of "street vendors" but the streets are covered and therefore rain, cold, etc. are not issues. There are a lot of tourist rip-off shops and jewelry stores but the site cannot be skipped. Bargain for everything. Decide what you are willing to pay and walk away if they don't meet your price. Very likely, you will see the same item down the street. The bazaar is within an easy walk from the Blue Mosque and other city highlights.

“Closed on Sunday”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012 via mobile

Contrary to what other reviewers said, the Bazaar is closed this Sunday. Not a very nice suprise. I wish this was made clear in Tripadvisor.
