“Magnaura Palace-a wonderful hotel in Sultanahmet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

My husband and I spent 5 nights and 4 days at Magnaura Palace. I must have spent close to a week agonizing over which hotel to choose for our stay in Istanbul. We nearly booked an apartment in the Golden Horn and I am so glad that we decided to go to Sultanahmet instead. Location is everything. We could not have been happier with our choice. If you are a tourist and want to be close to the Old City, this hotel is literally a 5 minute walk from the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. The Hippodrome is another 5 minutes away and the Topkapi Palace is just a 15 minute walk. The hotel organized our private transportation to and from the airport (we needed this 4 times during our stay). When you arrive from a long overnight flight it is such a comfort to see your name on a sign with someone smiling. Transport was smooth, swift and very comfortable in luxurious air conditioned vans. We were happy to pay the 45 euro charge as this gave us complete peace of mind. I had read of other frustrated travellers who booked private transport with other agencies and they were left stranded at the airport. This would not have been fun. Once we arrived at the hotel at 11:30 a.m. we were warmly welcomed by Dogus at reception. While our room wasn't quite ready, our luggage was stored securely and we went for a bite to eat at the Cafe across the street at the beginning of the Arasta Bazaar (which has much better prices that the famous Grand Bazaar that charges much more money because of the high rent). Upon our return from lunch our room with Bosphorus view was ready. Although the rooms are not huge, they are adequate because there is enough storage space in a large wardrobe. The beds are large with excellent mattresses and pillows. Our bedspread was decorated with genuine lavender orchid petals. How romantic! While the bathroom did not have a bath, it was very modern with beautiful fixtures, the shower was wonderful, there was a great hairdryer and lovely soaps and shampoos. We also had bathrobes and slippers! What was a huge plus for us was the fact that the room was virtually soundproof. That had been one of my biggest concerns being woken up by the call of the muezzin. However I am a very light sleeper. While I did wear ear plugs, I did not hear a thing! Wi-FI reception worked very well. The Bosphorus view was nice, but the view is not perfect there were some views of nearby homes that were not scenic. However for the price we paid we were quite content. Breakfast is served on the rooftop terrace and was delicious. Service was very friendly and efficient. The people at reception were very helpful in making recommendations. They even stored some of our luggage while we toured other parts of Turkey and then returned to spend the last night of our holiday before flying home. When we arrived on our last day, our room was ready at 10 a.m. For dinner, we had two wonderful evenings at the rooftop restaurant at the Blue House (Mavi Ev) directly across the street. There is no better place in Istanbul to gaze at the Blue Mosque and be transfixed by the play of colours after sunset. Magnaura Palace is also well placed for shopping. Just be prepared to bargain hard-with a smile! Do yourself a favour and book your Istanbul holiday at Magnaura.

Room Tip: A room facing the Bosphorus is probably a bit more quiet. They cost a bit more, but are worth it.

As all people who reviewed this hotel, I think that the staff are what make or break a hotel. The Magnaura Palace staff are friendly, helpful and polite. The location is superb. The rooms are clean. The decor is modern and pleasant.

I will certainly recommend staying there for friends and family.

The Magnaura Palace Hotel is ideally situated for visitors to Istanbul. It is a short walk from the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and Topkapi Palace and in an area with many small local restaurants.
The accommodation is excellent with airy, clean and nicely furnished rooms and ours had a lovely view of the Bosphorus. An abundant buffet breakfast is served on the rooftop terrace. Staff were very helpful and friendly. A great place to stay!

Room Tip: Ask for a room looking over the Bosphorus. It costs a little more but is well worth it.

Had an excellent stay at Magnaura Palace, rooms are clean and big. All personnel very polite and friendly, always smiling and willing to help . The best hotel I have ever came across in Istanbul ! The terrace deck on the top floor has a stunning sea view. Perfect Wi-Fi connection allover the place .
Few minutes walk to the sea front .
I would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to enjoy a first class experience.
Looking forward to going back again.
A special "thank you " to mister Mehmet the CEO of Magnaura Palace.

After a four days stay in this Hotel, we can only confirm other Trip Advisor comments. Excellent located, nice rooms, excellent breakfast in the terrace of the hotel, and the thing we loved in this hotel was the amazing level of service from the owner that was very often in the hotel and from all the entire the staff that speaks English. Everybody friendly and helpful, very good in giving and responding to our entire request. We felt happy and welcomed,
The location is ideal for a short stay in Istanbul and the neighborhood is just great to wonder around, full of lots of shops and small restaurants.
The room is clean and nicely decorated with good taste, of course nothing fancy but it's enough to have a good rest after your long day exploring this vibrant city. In short, a perfect stay.

My friend and I recently stayed at the Magnaura Palace Hotel in Sultanahmet to explore Istanbul. We arrived late evening and found that our room was on the smaller side. Dosh upgraded us to a larger room without any questions asked and at no extra charge. We had not planned ahead to see too many locations in Turkey, but based on our requests, the staff recommended the best restaurants, clubs, and bars to visit. Mehmet, the owner, also took us to a high quality ceramics shop and spent the time explaining price, quality, and what to buy. I would highly recommend the Magnaura Palace for its location, service, and the cleanliness of the rooms.

Thank you for an amazing stay!
