“A terrible experience and a very bad place to stay”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

I have traveled to over fifty countries, but never left a hotel in the middle of the night until I tried to stay at Hotel Nehrin. The photos online are not the actual rooms, or at least not the room they gave me. I could not get A SINGLE towel to use because they were "out of towels." Then came the "you must pay in cash" after I had "checked in." It was too much. The room was not clean, the tiny refrigerator did not work, it was very loud, close to the street. Just a terrible experience. Don't do it!

I stayed in Room 101 on the first floor. Small, true, but efficient room with perfectly adjustable A/C, nice little fridge, 45 channel TV (not that I watched much) clean and kept clean and serviced by the wonderful Lali.

Best

The position of the hotel is such that you are close to everything, the Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi, Basilica Cistern. Also very close to the tramline which can connect you to everywhere in this great city you want to visit.

As I noted above the service was excellent but lovely Lali, the breakfast and cleaning lady is by the far the best hostess I 've ever met in my world tours who serves her breakfasts (fresh breads, tomatoes, cuccumbers, olives, eggs, cold meats, cheases, coffee and tea. All that with a lovely smile, and always willing to help and asking if one needed anything more. Undoubtedly the star attraction, in a great hotel of a great chaotic city with hospitable, warm and kind people!

I must also note that Ilhan the receptionist was also of great help in providing all the information you needed as well as taking my laundry to the dry cleaning establishment all the way down to the other block!

Both Lali and Ilhan politely refused my offer for a tip when I left the establishment. That's another first in my international travels.

Let me note that just at the corner, less than twenty meters from Nehrin there is a mini market from where you can buy all stuff you might need in my case some sun lotion, There is also a public fruit, vegetable and grocery market with the cheapest and most tasty products you can imagine. Ilhan or Lali will tell you which days of the week it operates.

Cheers to all beautiful people of Istanbul and in particular the nice and kind people of Nehrin!

Room Tip: If you one of those who want to explore the city instead of staying in your room, get room 101. ther...

This small property is well located in Sultanhamet. The room we had was basic with just a bed with nightstands, a small desk, phone and tv. No chair. The rooms are clean and the breakfast is fine. In fact, the best best part was the woman who cleans and makes the breakfast. She wirks very hard. The big compliant is that despite a law against smoking indoors, the staff sits in the small lobby at the bottom of the stairs and chain smoke. The small stairwell acts like a chimney sucking the smoke up and into the rooms. Sound is also amplified up the stairwell into the rooms so you have to hope the staff doesn't have company. Would not stay there again.
