“The worst thing that could happen to your intl vacation!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

The worst thing that could happen to you which is they take your money but when u arrive they deny room! Yep, I used Hotels.com for my trip to Istanbul and made reservation 15 days in advance. We received 2 emails from Hotels.com, one immediate and another a day before check-in with text "Thanks for using Hotels.com, your booking is confirmed! You don't need to call to reconfirm." The cost were also debited from my card in full. On check in date at Elma Ottoman Hotel, we were denied any room and sent away with refund on a Saturday night in Taksim Square (busy tourist area with no hope of finding a room). We were given full refund and asked to find another place. I will leave it to you to figure out how that feels like. This is exactly how it all happened.

Room Tip: I will pray for you if you try!

A small quiet hotel very near to taksim square and the bus stop for the airport.its in a quiet side road that's a bit scruffy but the hotel itself is ok,rooms are clean and tidy and more than ok for single traveler on their own .with a tv small fridge kettle and free coffee tea etc, ensuite shower and toilet and comfy double bed with no real noise or problem in the night.perfect for a couple or single traveler as a base to explore the city with all the cafés and bars etc only 5 mins walk away and the old town of sultanahmet about 45 mins walk all in all very good and cheap hotel , would stay here again

The street which the hotel located is pretty clean and hotel is very close to Taksim. It is like a home. Noone interferes to you and there was no noise. I just felt myself in my home. That was absolutely great!

I was there for a week with my partner. I can't complain for the location, the room small buy enough, silent at night and the cleaning! Yes they actually clean too much! EVEN THE WALLET!!!! I left £50 in my wallet which I left in the room. Unfortunately I realized too late on my arrival to London. In Istanbul anyway it is a normal practice to rip off tourist. See trip advisor any time if you decide to go to a restaurant

The rooms are small but that was no problem. Breakfast is served on the room, but not that great. Staff is super friendly, but level of English could be better. Location is good, walking distance to Taksim square in a very small street. Rooms are clean but during the stay room service was a bit sloppy (towels were not replaced,we missed toilet paper, no daily service). Also walls are very thin and depending on the other guest it can be a bit noisy.

The hotel itself is very small, which can be convenient, or not. Anyway, we felt like being hosted in someone's home, which cna be very nice if you want to feel more "the local stuff" and if you are a backpacker as per our case.

I liked a lot the room, the bathroom, they are offering slippers, u have tv, plenty of hot water and many other nice things. the view is nothing really interesting (a backyard) but anyway you have to go around the city not just sit in your room!

The location is so and so... it is close to Taxim square which is convenient, however there are very big slopes that can be annoying or even dangerous at times. Plus, there are many many hotels that are closer to Taxim (you need about 20 minutes walking).

Someone could have expected some more friendliness by the staff, which is something very common in places like that. If you have 16 guests everyday, please make sure they feel very comfortable and show it to them. No, the guys at the front desk diddn't bother to do so. Hospitality is completely irrelevant to the stars a hotel has... so please reconsider how you approach your guests, and if you do so, I think this can be a very nice play to stay!
