“Well located and several unexpected freebies”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2012

Stayed here for 4 nights over Easter after reading other reviews on Tripadvisor. From the point of booking the hotel staff were extremely pleasant to deal with, confirming the free airport transfer quickly and offering an 11% discount if we paid in cash which was very useful.
On arrival we were really pleased - the hotel is in a great location, within about 5 mins walk of the Galata Bridge in one direction, and Aya Sofya/Blue Mosque about 10 mins walk in the other, and loads of good restaurants/bars/sweet shops in between.
The hotel itself is very well maintained and our room was very pleasant, spacious, clean and tidy.We had free bottled water and a silver platter of turkish delights on our table
The staff were very very good, making us feel immediately at home at check-in and everyone from the cleaner (who always said good morning), to the front desk staff, to the restaurant staff to the guy who was in charge of the swimming pool being exceptionally well-mannered, professional, and just pleasant to deal with. A real positive and something quite difficult to find in hotels we've travelled to
The real factor that pushed this from a 4 to a 5 for us was what was (unexpectedly) included in the price. We had expected breakfast to be included, which was excellent (buffet of hot and cold everything of turkish and western european selections), but not the free glass of wine every night on the fantastic roof terrace overlooking the Bosphorus (surprisingly not shown on the hotel website), or the mezes from midday to 7pm every day, or the free half bottle of wine in our room to celebrate Easter. It all made the whole experience feel incredibly hospitable and gave us the distinct impression that the hotel takes enormous pride in going the extra mile, and ensuring its guests have a good stay. It made us really love our time there.
Highly recommend

Room Tip: We were on the street side and despite it being evident there was some construction work going on up...

We stayed for 3 nights recently. Right from airport pickup to departure, was an experience to remember. They never had a no for anything. My younger son was sick for a day, and the concern they showed touches your heart. We stayed in a family room on the 5th floor; which did not have any view, otherwise, everything else was superb.

Room Tip: Look for room with a view

There's absolutely nothing I can say about our stay at this hotel which would detract at all from our wonderful experience. The staff was unbelievably helpful, the food - - including breakfast and mezze - - was excellent and all the historical sites were in very easy walking distance (a very big plus). All in all, the hotel was special and only added to the wonderful time we had in Istanbul.

Room Tip: We requested and received a room on a high floor; we had heard that the city can be quite noisy but...

We stayed at the Nerion Hotel twice this year and both times our experiences could not have been better. The location, amenities, food and facilities were wonderful but the best part are the excellent staff. Everyone is friendly, goes out of their way to help guests and seems to enjoy the work they do. I would stay again at the Nerion when I return to Istanbul.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2012

Based on other TripAdvisor reviews, we stayed at the Neorion from March 25-27, 2012 and found that it exceeded our expectations. We arranged for the ride from the airport (for an extra but reasonable charge) and had no trouble connecting with our driver who met us with a sign bearing our name. Upon our arrival at the hotel, we were greeted warmly by Bahar and others and treated to a drink as we checked in. She explained breakfast and mezzes (extensive "snacks") times as well as other hotel amenities.

Our room was very comfortable, the food delicious, plentiful and varied and the staff bent over backward to offer assistance. The owner introduced himself to us at breakfast one day and we saw him there the next day as well. The lobby is cozy, warm and welcoming with lighted display cases featuring various Turkish artifacts and antiques.

The hotel location is EXCELLENT for exploring Sultanahmet on foot. We walked to Aya Sofya, the Blue Mosque, the Grand Bazaar, Topkapi Palace, the Basilica Cistern and to Eminonu to hop a boat for a 1 1/2 hour Bosphorus tour then hit the Spice Bazaar. All this from noon Sunday to noon Tuesday - and without killing ourselves!

The hotel provides menus you can check out for 4 restaurants owned by the same group (Sirkeci) with a 10% discount for Neorion guests. We selected the Imbat restaurant at the top of the Orient Express hotel. Bahar called to make a reservation for us and even made sure we received the discount. It is very close to the Neorion and has a lovely view over the city and the Bosphorus with delicious, affordable meals.

We were granted a delayed check-out the day we departed and were given a parting gift of Turkish delight, apple tea and another bag of candy - an unexpected treat. Bahar followed up with an e-mail following our departure and they seem genuinely interesting in suggestions for improving their hotel. We could think of none!

We just left the hotel after 6 lovely days there - absolutely fantastic. Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids ages 12 and 8) stayed in the comfortable "Family Room" - a suite with 2 single beds and bath in one room and a larger king sized bed and bath in an adjoining room. Everything was delightful, right from our welcome drinks, friendly concierge, clean, modern rooms, free internet, free breakfast and free "meze" a meal served between 1pm and 7pm. There's free coffee and tea in the room, fresh turkish delight and they even leave 2 bottled waters free per room - every day! Makes the chain hotels look like cheapskates - wanting to charge you for everything.

The pool, jacuzzi, turkish bath and sauna were fabulous. They have an excellent masseur or two on staff between 2pm and 10 pm. Highly recommend the Turkish bath - very relaxing.
The hotel is right around the corner from the major sights - all walkable distance. You can easily take a tram to the ferry docks or just walk to the ferry at Sirkeci.

We tried 2 of the four restaurants affiliated with the hotel - our favorite was the seafood restaurant. Kids did great here and the staff really care - they do go above and beyond. No wonder this place is rated #1.

We're spending our last night at the W Hotel here in Istanbul - staring at a $10 bottle of water sitting on the counter. Go local - stay at the Neorion - it's not just value for money, they say they'll treat you like a family guest and they mean it.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 3rd floor or above - the 1st floor has smoking rooms and the smell sometimes m...
