They are saying they will not run the tour anymore, I'm not sure if this is true but if you have booked your tour, do yourself a favor and cancel it. The guides are dishonest, unreliable and disrespectful.
1. Many reviews talk about the "visit to the school" as one of the highlights of the tour and this was one of the main reasons for me to join it. In the morning, Fethj went through the itinerary for the tour and said we would go to the school and see the students. After lunch, what a surprise, first they asked "Would you prefer to go to the school or to the hamam?" That was annoying, because in the morning both of activities were mentioned by the guide. I said "if I have to choose I would prefer to go to the school". So after a few minutes they came with a bizarre excuse that it was a national holiday in Turkey and the schools were closed! I said, "I didn't hear anything about any national holiday and in our way here we saw a lot of children wearing uniforms". Then Fethj said "well, they are closed just during the afternoon". Then when we were walking through a neighborhood in the afternoon we passed by at least two schools operating just normal. If this is not a ripoff, I don't know what is! How this guys can criticize the salesmen at the grand bazaar?! In the end of the tour I complained again and Trevor said the school "is not happy about the way they've been acting. because they are not doing their part of the deal, the school did not allow the tour to go there". So I guess the tourists are not the only ones that have been fooled by Fethj.
2. Fethj is very disrespectful and unpolite. He made a lot of personal questions to a lady in my tour, pushing her to talk about her divorce.... until she cried! Seriously, he kept questioning her until she couldn't take it anymore. He would ask things like "Why did your husband left you?" "Do you blame yourself?" "How long since you had sex for the last time?" "What do you do when you are horny?". After a few hours, when we met Trevor, he said in front of everybody "Dude, I made her cried, isn't this awsome?" I guess you really have to be "open minded" to deal with this kind of person. Disgusting.
3. We had a nonstop sex talking during the tour. It was just me and two other women, so I'm not sure how it goes with larger groups when they have men also. I definitely felt uncomfortable with all the talk, the details about Fethj sexual life and how he kept making comments about the bodies of the women in the tour, At some point he said he got "upset and angry" (those were his words) because one the women in the tour said she would not sleep with him. Seriously?!
I know they have a lot of nice reviews here and this was one of the reasons that led me to join the tour. I'm not sure if the way they conducted my tour was because they are thinking about not doing the tour anymore. So, be aware if join them.
It was definitely an experience... a terrible one! I could deal with Fethj "style", it's annoying but it's they way he is and the reviews here are clear about this.... what is totally unacceptable are the LIES, SCUM, RIPOFF... for me this tour was just a way to reinforce the cliches about the Turkish men... a modern version, a hipster version of the salesmen trying to take your money and the sexist way their treat women. I'm glad I had time in Turkey to have other experiences and understand this was just a bad experience and the way they act is not the usual in Turkey.
