“Another Fantastic Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

I have stayed in the Basileus five times now and will be back there again very soon. There really is nowhere else I would rather go to for a relaxing, fun weekend. It is a simple three star hotel, but the attention to detail paid by the staff is really faultless. Other reviewers have noted that there was a problem with street noise and the management took note of this and have started replacing the windows with triple-glazing, which is a vast improvement, as well as putting in noise-reducing doors to make the ground floor rooms sound-isolated from the lounge foyer. Since I started visiting this hotel three years ago the breakfast room has doubled in size, the foyer lounge has been redecorated most beautifully, and afternoon tea and cakes have appeared to feast on. It is a shame that the brilliant front-desk-man Yusuf has moved on to another hotel, but Ekrem and Omer have more than taken over this role brilliantly, being incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, flexible, kind and great fun to talk to. They also speak great English, which is pretty useful as Turkish must be one of the hardest languages on the planet!

We loved this hotel. We stayed on the recommendation of friends and were not disappointed. It is in a great location.. close to all of the major sights. The hosts are delightful.. so so so helpful. They helped us make reservations, called places and helped us sort our taxi to the next place we moved to. The hotel was fine. Clean rooms, free wi-fi and a fabulous breakfast. We'll be back.

First leg of our tour and we had the pleasure of staying at the Basilieus. We arrived at 4.30 am and after travelling for 18 hours they ensured we were able to shower and change so we could start the day fresh, breakfast also provided. The level of service is amazing they assisted us with all our enquiries even contacting our tour company to confirm our trip to Gallipoli. Recommended a local hamam to us rather than the over priced tourist Turkish baths. Room outstanding and so clean! Nothing negative to say about this hotel at all, would recommend to anyone

I have to agree: outstanding service by staff who obviously love their job. Istanbul was fantastic - but I think our stay at this hotel went a long way to making it so. So much that my husband wants to return next year, just so that he can enjoy another stay at this hotel! Location also is excellent. We were able to walk to most of the major sites. Lovely room. Excellent breakfast. Excellent advice on where to go and what to do. These boys know their business. Wouldn't hesitate to return, and to recommend to anyone.

The service provided by Omer, his Uncle, and the rest of the staff was outstanding. Their recommendations for restaurants were excellent. It was a pleasure to stay in such a well run boutique hotel with a staff that loved their jobs and knew their business. They even took us to a local barber to get a shave and a haircut (It was a lot of fun) The location in the Sultanameth was within 4 minutes walking distance of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sofia, the Palace, and numerous restaurants. The breakfast that was included was very nice and they always had snacks and drinks in the lobby. If you like boutique hotels, you will love the Basileus !!!! Their shuttle service from the airport was on time and efficient.

Room Tip: We had the Superior room and it was great !!!! Nice little balcony and street view.

Hello! I have been to Istanbul many times cos we really to come to this city and enjoy this great atmosphere of history. I always live in Taksim area though this time decided to change to sultanahmet area and it was interesting choice. This hotel I checked in triadvisor but deeply in my mind ..I didn't expect such a pleasure of stay in hotel. Just when you enter you really feel like at home. Style is nice , Ekrem is very helpful and smart person who can give you any advise.Really these guys work very much and they deserve to be one of the best in Istanbul. Location is just 5 min from Sofia and Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar 15 min. WiFi was working perfectly in each area of hotel , breakfast was not very rich but all that you need you can find.I think is good choice for travelers who want to visit historic side and not to spend big value of money.good hotel !

After many years of travelling, I have great pleasure in submitting a review on Trip Advisor for Basileus Hotel in Sultanahmet. I chose this hotel because of the excellent reviews. Their service is excellent; the staff went out of their way to ensure we had a great time in Istanbul –kudos to Muharem, Ekrem, Omar, Adam and Mehmet, Right from the beginning in answering all my emails promptly, receiving us at the airport after a long wait (due to many flights arriving at the same time), serving us with drinks and delicious pastries upon arrival at the hotel, recommending dining options, providing us with directions and maps, carrying our bags to the third floor, to preparing breakfast at 3am to accommodate our early return flight at 6am and all other requests always with a smile on their face. The rooms are quite spacious and very clean. The hotel is also close to all the attractions in Sultanahmet. We loved the lavish breakfast spread in the mornings and would highly recommend this hotel. We wish Basileus Hotel every success in the future and would love to return someday….they truly treated us like family!
