Amazing service! I can't gush about this hotel enough, really.
This guy "Yusuf" whom you read about in many other reviews is a real credit to Turkey. He was really one of the most friendly guys you will ever meet, but not so friendly as to be overbearing - and he did not try and push you to do certain tours or what have you. We had done all our research before getting to Istanbul, but I'm quite sure whatever you may need to know, Yusuf would be able to help.
Getting there is easy from Ataturk airport (IST) - just take the metro system from the airport, to the tram system. Transferring is about a 5 minute walk, and then after a few more stops you will be in the heart of the Old City at which point it's just a 10 or so minute walk to your hotel. This is perfectly okay if you only have carry-on luggage, as we did - though with larger pieces of luggage I would of course suggest getting a taxi instead.
I was deathly afraid of overbookings, as seems to be very common in Turkey - so I chose this hotel which from my research simply did not do this detestable practice - and was thankfully rewarded with great service, a lovely well air conditioned room (with full manual controls), and an ideal base from which to explore the rest of Istanbul.
Finally, we come to breakfast. One of the nicest breakfasts I've ever had! There is a gigantic selection of absolutely delicious items. They have the usual meats, cheeses, breads, cereals, etc. - but they also have a wide variety of sweet pastries, cream cakes, and best of all we were offered turkish-style coffee as well as on request omelets ! Everything we tried was honestly amazing and it was a fantastic way to start the day - and a huge relief in comparison to our previous Turkish hotel in Antalya!
Oh - and it was also about the 5th or so cheapest hotel I could find in the Old City - unbelievable! Hopefully the staff will not have caught on to how great their hotel is and will keep their rates low. :)
Ok that's enough gushing for one review. Bottom line - book this hotel ! Istanbul itself is truly incredible and this is the perfect hotel from which to explore it.
