“Perfect week at this hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2012

I stayed at this hotel 7 days in april from 18to25 and i can surely say that if one day i'll be back to Istanbul i will come to this hotel again. STAFF : the best i ever met in a hotel, kind, gentle, everytime ready to help u at every hour, they also can give you very interesting place to visit, like monuments, museum and so on but even good place when u can eat or drink or smoke narguile in very nice place. Hotel is positioned in very calm street, its safe in the night and you can reach the most popular attraction like blu mosque in 2 minutes by walking. About room i took a superior room at 2nd floor and was very big and very comfortable, breakfast also was good. i will suggest this hotel to anyone because you will feel yourself like you are at home. they can also take u from airport to hotel..... very very good hotel!!

The Basileus hotel is perfectly located within a 20-minute walk to the major sights located in Sultanahmet. We were 3 adults who stayed at this family-style hotel at the start and end of our holiday. Despite some teething problems, the staff made a concerted effort to make up for these. During our initial stay we were given a triple room (even though we booked a family room) and it was a bit cramped. During our final stay we enjoyed the space and comfort that the family room offers - well worth the extra money. We were able to safely store luggage at the hotel while we were touring other parts of Turkey.

The rooms were well appointed and comfortable with ample hot water in the shower. Be aware of street noise should you open windows for fresh air. Breakfast consists of a wide selection and is served from 08:00 onwards. The breakfast room is in the basement of the hotel and feels a bit cramped when it gets busy.

Yusuf and Ekrem at the front desk have a wealth of information to share. They were extremely helpful and courteous at all times - there wasn't any request of ours which they couldn't assist with. They arranged all our airport transfers and assisted with restaurant bookings and on-line entry tickets to the Topkapi palace.

I would certainly recommend this hotel should you wish to be based in Sultanahmet. Good value for money.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor seems to be nicer and less noisy.

My husband and I spent 5 wonderful nights at the Basileus Hotel in early April 2012. The accommodation was fabulous, great location, wonderful breakfast and amazingly friendly and helpful staff. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: We had a room at the back away from the little but busy road and it was quite and wonderful!

Basileus hotel became our home in Istanbul and helped make the visit to the city a memorable experience. This is a newly renovated, small hotel with all the amenities one would need. The location is perfect (walking distance) for visits to all the important sites in Istanbul including Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar. Enjoy the ample breakfast spread with made to order omelettes and you are good to go!!
Most importantly, the people who run this hotel want everyone who comes to Istanbul to really have great experiences and do everything to make it so. They can also arrange tours, transportation and taxis. They are also very helpful in all possible ways and their restaurant recommendations are spot on. We learned about the regional cuisine of the Hittites (Hattayi) and ate in a great restaurant with not a tourist in sight!! We would like to thank the partners and staff by name for making our visit one to remember - Muharram, Yousef, Ekram and brother, and Fatahbey!!

Our family of 4 stayed for 6 nights during April 2012.

The staff is great -- welcoming, solicitous, knowledgeable, friendly. We really enjoyed all of our interactions with Ekram, Yousef, and everyone else.

The rooms are modern and clean, with lots of nice details (moldings, fixtures).

The location is good -- just about a 10 minute walk up to the Blue Mosque.

The breakfasts were great -- abundant and delicious.

We stayed at the Basileus for 4 nights over Easter. Despite the hotel being full, the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. Our room was very comfortable, breakfast was good and we really appreciated all the guidance they gave us on visiting the sites, getting around and restaurants. Very good location too.

we spent 4 days at the Basileus, Yusef greeted us as if he had known us for a long time. He showed us where we would see the sights and some great places to walk, any questions we had he would answer or find out the answer. the breakfast was gigantic and tasty, we enjoyed it every morning, Great location, just 10 minutes from the Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque etc. and the Tram was there too. Very safe area. The owners and staff were always there to chat, they enjoyed their guests as much as we enjoyed them.
