“Just more than perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

A place to listen to the perfect music in Istanbul, the place is wonderful, great drinks and a cozy place. Its beside Galata tower, it was hard to find in the first place. If you love Jazz music then its the place to go for the night.

“Nardis for a really good jazz nite out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

This is a small night club very near the Galata tower. It is a charming place in an old building with ancient loooking brick walls. You will go there for the live music rather than the food but it is possible to have a relatively inexpensive dinner although the menu is limited. The live music is on offer and different artists appear every night. They have a well organised web site that makes it easy to mark the nights of interest. Tuesdays are usually with the band of Onder Focan, who owns the club and is also one of the prominent Turkish jazz guitarists. He is a mechanical engineer by training in the leading technical university of Turkey but he must have chosen music as his professional vocation.

It is best to go to Nardis at around 9:30 pm that probably means dinner elsewhere. There is a cover charge, which is not insignificant at 35 liras. The place was full every time I have been there and I am happy there is a cover charge otherwise it could have been a pretty hard place to get into.

The drinks are not expensive for a place offering quality live music. We had a glass of red wine at 15 liras, a bottle of beer at about the same price, a double shot of yeni raki at 20 liras. Alcohol and nuts were quite adequate for us and we did not sample the food.

A place definitely worth trying at least once during your visit. Best to check the web site first to pick the night with a performer that is close to your taste.

“Where Jazz lives in Istanbul”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

A Jazz Club with flesh and bones... a melting pot of the pop, ethnic & standard jazz, the world famous & extraordinarily talented young musicians... Yearly competitions to select the young vocalist & guitar player of the year... Friendly, everpresent proprietor ...
A must if you are ever in Istanbul and have the least affinity for Jazz!

“Good Ol Jazz”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

Nardis is very conveniently located near the Galata Tower. The program normally starts at about 10 pm and they have a website where all the performances are advertised. It is recommended to book for the popular performers and especially at weekends. The entrance fee about TL35 is supposedly for the performer and council tax. The bar is a little on the high side and I believe that this is to do with the recent heavy taxation by the government on alcohol. I have visited Nardis about 6 times every time I visit Istanbul and absolutely love it. The barman makes a fantastic Mojito with fresh mint and uses Havana Club. The price for food is not that bad and the quality is quite good. Do try and get a seat in front of the stage.

This is an old fashioned small Jazz Club very intimate and friendly
