“Good if you can get a deal”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2010

My boyfriend and I stayed for 2 nights as part of a 6 night holiday in Istanbul.

The hotel is conveniently located in the 'new part' of istanbul- for those that do not know, there are 2 sides to the city- the asian side and the european side, the new part of the city and the old part . The hotel is very near a large cosmopolitan shopping boulevard which has all the big designer label shops, fashion stores, shoe stores and expensive cafes and is in quite an expensive part of the city- great if 1. you like shopping in all the usual shops no matter what country you are in and 2. you have a few quid with you!

We were aware that the hotel had just opened. Our room was nice though my boyfriend who had made the booking via an online agent was un-sure of whether we were allocated the correct type of room. Our room was not very big and located at the side of the building so had no view and overlooked a narrow side street.

The shower in the bathroom was on its way to falling out of the ceiling! the hotel was lovely looking though appeared to show evidence of some cheap builders work!

The lift stopped working on several occasions with us in it! it basically stops and you stand there in darkness for about 10 seconds and then it starts again. The receptionist gave us some reason for it why it does that.....though this is not really acceptable if you are not as easy going as we are and are paying alot more money to stay there!

The hotel is still un-finished and I am sure will have a lovely roof terrace and other facilities when it is finished.

The breakfast is good though the hotel was very quiet and there were 3-4 staff working on the breakfast shifts. on the second morning I felt quite uncomfortable as we were only 2 of 3 guests eating breakfast and the staff just kept pacing up and down, up and down, the restaurant, trying to look attentive, though clearly had nothing to do as there were only 3 guests eating and the staff were actually just quite annoying! i would have liked to have eaten my breakfast without the continuous passing of the waiter next to our table, who was just walking past, looking out of the window, and then walking back, and then again. I have worked in the hotel industry for the past 9 years and did not feel that this pacing was of any benefit to us as guests.

on check-out we were charged 8% tax on top of our bill which was unexpected, the receptionist told us we could claim it back at the airport- we could not as the airport told us hotels were not included for tax reclaim (?!!) we need to investigate this further as it is not good if the reception staff are giving out incorrect information.

We did not use any other of the hotel facilities... the food and drink looked particularly expensive, and the spa a little un-finished.

I would reccommend this hotel when it is finished, and if the staff were a little more helpful and better trained.

stayed 2 days at this hotel, we stayed in a good compfortable room, price was ok for the room and breakfast was very good but the breakfast area is very small, it is like quick breakfast, just eat and go,
i prefer big breakfast area with comfortable chairs.

What a shame, such a fabulous hotel with great potential but greeted with no pool or spar with building work ongoing. Then no terrace bar restaurant just a breakfast area in the reception area.
The the problems began, no hot water for showers several times. Heat in rooms 29c whereas 17c outside. Firstly told that on Istanbul all hotelsvturn air conditioning off then the whole hotel has a fault. Solution is to keep the windows open all night but very noisy area with other active building projects adjacent.
In summary it will be excellent but opened too early with facilities sadly missing. So don't be sold by the fabulous pictures on the Internet as only the bedrooms ( saunas ) are there now.
