“The kindness of Strangers + chance meetings = perfect holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2011

Tired from travelling found myself wondering around the cobbled streets, twisting alleys, heavy bag on back and map in hand looking for my lodgings.
A gentleman sipping Tea on a small astro turf outside a typical 'Istanbul' builging, old high and narrow. Offers me a seat and a coffee and directions, more then that calls the hotel and asks for prices and availability of rooms (which I hadn't done as a last minute booking) and speaks to a friend about my best route and option of them driving me. 2 (complimentary) cups of Tea later we're sitting on the rookf terrace over looking the Sea of Mamara with the large towering Hagia Sofia and Sultanmehet towering behind us. Turns out the beautiful building he was infrotn of is his hotel. And it was charming. Without any pressure or persuasion or the influence of the (complientary) Effes, I stayed here, Breakfats on the terrace, 3minutes walk from the Hagia Sofia and main attarctions, 5 mins to the coast and 5mins to main tramvay If you want to venture into other areas of Istanbul, Ferry ports, airports, Islands. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful for any information/ tours/ transfers /directions and will book things for you if you so require. Quiet and peaceful spot and ideal for a getaway, fresh and clean modern rooms, within and old charming building. Lovely

I'll keep it short. Find another hotel. There are many better options near the Four Seasons.

Hilfon is a medriocre place to stay and the prices for the rooms (we paid 120€) are way off for what it is. We stayed in what seemed to be their best room (302) supposedly a suite with a double bed and a terrace.

I made the terrible mistake of leaving the key of the room at the reception. When we got back from dinner, I discovered they had stolen a pair of sunglasses from our room. I went down to complain and the receptionist swore nobody got in the room. Next day I watched the videos of the lobby with another receptionist and we both clearly saw his colleage put the key of the room in his pocket.. later on they admitted there was a key mistake... but refused to compensate me or do anything about it.

A thief can be anywhere, but besides that, the room was noisy as we constantly heard the elevator and other guests going up and down the terrace. (until 2am..). And the next morning, we discovered that unlinke many other hotels in the area you can't have breakfast in the rooftop terrace..

As I said.. you have way better options and value for the money right next to Four Seasons. Friendly places with nice rooftop terraces where you can have breakfast and enjoy views of the mosquees..

Room Tip: Not worth more than 50€.

- breakfast(from 7:30 - 10:30 clock) onesided, but enough.

We were put in a room with broken toilet seat, non-working bathroom lights, non-working hair dryer, only two small towels, no wifi. When we mentioned these things we were told it all could only be remedied the next day. The TV had to be attended to that night to make it work. Next day we were moved to a room one floor up. All seemed okay, except for the shower leaking water all over the bathroom floor. Later, we were shocked to have the bathroom ceiling leaking steaily and the bathroom electricity blow out because of it. Reception was indifferent to our report of disfunction. The last straw in our stay at the Hilfon came when we had to argue our stance over return transport to the airport. They denied that they were responsible for the charge eventhough we could show them the offer on their website! The only good thing about the Hilfon Hotel was that the mattress was very good. We left dissatisfied given all the things not being as advertised on their website. Don't stay there. No need to give them your travel money when there are so many other hotels to choose.

Everything's fake here. Walls too have fake stones. Terrible service: you have to ask for everything, for towels, for soap, etc. We had a very bad room, attached to the breakfast room, with no space to move. Breakfast doesn't exist....and don't ask anything to people in the hotel: they won't do anything for you.
