Hotel location is perfect, short walk distance to Blue Mosk and Hagia Sofia, historical part, Hotel interior is clean and perfectly maintanied. Hotel rooms have magical stuning sea view. Food for breakfast is perfect, both turkish traditional and sweet....Hotel staff :)
what to say, ready to fullfil any request, polite, couldn't have been nicer and more gracious,if the hotel is unavailable try hotel serdivan just across the road ... I was so pleased with our stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay at the Asitane or serdivan to all my friends and family.

Room Tip: 4th or 5th Floor has a stuning sea view.

Stayed 4 nights at #502 - 5th floor, no elevator. Good fitness, but staff dragged our suitcases upstairs the first time. Very fit young man who offered us a help right when we need it. After all that's what hotel means.
Anyways, we requested higher floor room, so we got exactly what we asked for.
Hotel is superbly snug near all the central tourist locations one might visit on his first visit to the Sultanahmet area - where all the major tourist attractions are. Alternatives are located much farther towards the western part - near the southern part of the tramway line towards Aksaray. The hotel is near Bayrampasa tram stop, which is couple of stops from Aksaray, but the neighborhood is really good, secure and peaceful.
However, don't go up the narrow streets - this is a shoe manufacturing neighborhood so at daytime there are a lot of commotion, at night time a recycling staff cleaning all the mess, packaging and so on. Generally hotel is close to all the tourist attractions but just follow the Pierloti str. as you really don\t have what to see in any of the adjacent back streets. Waling downwards, you end up at the beach near the IDO sea ferry terminal, I think near to Bostanci-direction peer and ferry terminal. Not much to see there either.
In itself, the hotel is not much of anything, but has all the essentials - clean sheets, powerful AC, fairly comfortable bed, towels changed each day, and I might add - excellent breakfast, for which you have to appear early. At least before 9am. It includes ham, eggs, bread, cereal, youghurt, melon, water melon, lemon juice, insstant coffe and the ever present in Istanbul "cai" or tea.
Room was neat and tidy, flat screen TV and satellite TV included, so you won't miss those Leno and O'Brien shows lat night you're so addicted to.
Bed was double, one large bed, mattresses over one fixed bed. Left mattress was a bit saggy on the outside, but nothing really worth mentioning.
AC was very powerful so it easily and instantaneously remits the heat from the rooftop.
Freezer did not work the first day, Or I couldn't operate it, plugged it in, raised the knob to max and after there was no indication of it working I made a note to hotel staff member on my way out. When I returned the freezer was working properly and I had one complimentary bottle of water on the top of the table.
Walls are very thin so it is essential that you respect the privacy and relaxation of others.
Prior to our last night small-bottle shampoos were not replenished which is the only negative notion I have for this hotel.
All the staff members we had contact with are English speaking, young, ready and helpful.
As to parking amenities - we were told that they get visitors with cars and have several parking places available near by. I saw I few around the hotel - at least two on a leveled space and at least two others in front of the hotel on the street. Make a note that the streets there are really steep and you must be able to operate handbrake or have hill-descent system on your vehicle. Traffic is a murder there, parking even more, but being a tourist there people will be lenient and forgiving at your driving mistakes.
Generally, you don't need a car staying at this hotel, in particular if you haven't visited Istanbul before and all the tourist attractions are very close near by, and far from the teeming commotion of Aksaray, or other neighborhoods near by.
All in all, you get good deal for your money, of course it always could be cheaper, or better located, and this hotel does not make an exception. However, you would enjoy your stay and even more - its location. If you are a first timer in Istanbul your tourist targets are all in downtown Sultanahmet - this is your hotel.
Hotel does not offer any amenities for people with disabnilities and wheel chairs and maybe it will be difficult for the people with small children if you have to carry with you the baby chair/stroller, for young people and couples it is very much ok.

Room Tip: #502: Nice view to Marmara Sea, top floor, no elevator

We decided to rent the family room, since we were traveling with our 2 kids for a 2 week vacation in Istanbul. The price we paid was an excellent value- one double bed and two twin beds in a double room with views of both the Marmara Sea and the minarets of the Blue Mosque. Breakfast was included, which is nice to be able to take care of at the hotel before you go on a day of walking, taking in the sites, etc... The staff is very friendly and hospitable and the hotel is very clean. The air conditioning works very well. There is a nearby grocery store, which we would frequent to put drinks in our in-room refrigerator. Trust me, after a long day of exploring the city, it is great to come back to a clean room with air conditioning, clean nice bedsheets and cold drinks. It is also nice to have a friendly staff that tries to their best to make sure you are comfortable.
You can certainly find fancier hotels in Istanbul- with swimming pools, larger rooms, etc... but it is important to note that those hotels are not usually in Sultanahmed and come with a much bigger price tag. If you want to stay at the Four Seasons, be prepared to pay for it! This hotel is true to how it is advertised. The pictures are realistic. Again, the staff is great. Our son is a picky eater and the staff helped us order Dominos Pizza several times at our hotel (embarrassing to admit since the food in Istanbul was amazing, but you know how kids can be). We loved our two week vacation in Istanbul with our kids and are happy we chose the family room at this hotel.
I would also recommend arranging airport transfer through the hotel. The van that picked us up from the airport was very comfortable and large enough for all of our luggage. It was also air-conditioned and had a tv inside playing a "Welcome to Istanbul" video. The driver greeted us immediately and took care of everything. You do not want to start your vacation getting ripped off by a cabbie taking you around in circles after a long flight. This was the best way for us to start our trip, especially as we were exhausted and had young children with us. A great value for families with kids!

My husband and I had booked to stay here for one night with my parents-in-law. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the manager told us that one of his staff had taken our booking when he was absent, not realising that there were no rooms left. Since I had booked online some weeks previously and then had been corresponding with the hotel since my booking about a number of things (what payment types they accept etc), I found it frankly unbelievable that there had been no opportunity to tell us this. I suspect that they had the opportunity to take a booking that was longer than one night, so decided to 'bump' us off without having the courtesy to tell us.

They had organised a room for us at another hotel round the corner (the Serdivan Apart Hotel - see separate review). By the time we had reached Istanbul and realised we no longer had a booking at Asitane Hotel, we didn't have much choice than to accept this. It was OK in the end, but if I had wanted to stay there I would have booked direct!! I wouldn't be surprised if Asitane Hotel deliberately takes double bookings so they could pass the excess on to their friends at Serdivan Apart Hotel - speaking to staff at the Serdivan Apart Hotel, it seemed to be something that happened quite frequently.

So frankly a totally unacceptable way to treat people who have booked at your hotel - I would recommend avoiding this hotel and going for somewhere more reliable that won't let you down.

By the way, from what we saw of the hotel it wasn't in a very good area - it was quite a run down district and the steep hills could make walking difficult for some people, especially if carrying luggage. At the beginning of our trip, we stayed closer to the Ayia Sofia which much more convenient and pleasant.

The triple room is very big and comfortable! Also, it is very clean and the staff is very polite ! The hotel is located very close to historical monuments and the only negative point is the noise from outdoors! Good price and good breakfast!

Room Tip: triple room
