“Not worth the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

The rooms were too small.I heard noises from the next room which implies the door room was not preventing the outside noises. The elevator was also too small
The air condition was a little bit old.It was directly coming to your face while sleeping. You either have to sweat or get cold.

The thing I liked; the location of the hotel was great. The rooms were clean

Thanks for staying at Jazz Hotel. We are glad that our guest enjoyed our great location and clean facilities. Our rooms are sized around 27m2 (270 sq. ft.) - the size of a standard room for a typical city hotel in Europe. However, we offer the function and features that can be found in larger hotel rooms. This is probably the first time we have received a noise complaint, but we will take it into consideration.

We are quite surprised to read that the use of an air conditioner was needed in the third week of November. The day this guest stayed with us, the “highest” temperature was 18°C (64°F) during the day and lowest temperature was 12°C (54°F) at night. Luckily, unlike many hotels around the world, we offer an air conditioning system that works 12 months of the year – regardless of the season. We use the latest LG Inverter air conditioning systems throughout the hotel and the system is less than 2.5 years old (just like our hotel). Furthermore, our internal units are the upgraded, expensive models with a more modern design – and these units are still sold today. So, we have absolutely no idea why this guest thought it was an old model. Inverter A/C systems cost more than standard A/C systems and they provide quiet operation with high performance even at low fan speeds – both for heating and cooling. Choosing a low temperature setting and a slow fan speed would be sufficient for this guest's comfort.

We have a standard 3-4 person elevator. Yes, it’s not very big; but we tried to maximize the size of our rooms in the floor plan. After all, our guests spend “hours” in their rooms, as opposed to “seconds” in the elevator. Finally, we will have to “fully disagree” with the comment “not worth the price”: Jazz Hotel Istanbul is located in Nişantaşı, the most popular and expensive district of Istanbul. We offer "very" competitive rates (plus a very unique character) compared to hotels offering similar quality, services and features in this neighborhood.

Jazz Hotel totally is a Value for Money, helpful personal, Clean and chic hotel. In the room as well as the bathroom you have the option to have Frank Sinatra singing for you! Enough space in rooms and good room service. Small Hotel but very well managed.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

We spent 5 nights at the Jazz Hotel, and found it to be a chamring boutique hotel. Our goal was to be away from the tourist area in Sultanhamet, and the Jazz fit the bill. The Nistansi section is an affulent, upscale neighborhood with all of the designer name stores, but just a few blocks away are great local stores, where we spent more of our time and money.

The staff at ther Jazz was very helpful and welcoming, offering suggestions for local restaurants (try both of the cafes around the corner - you won't be disapppointed in either). The breakfasts were adequate, if a bit uninspired.

The rooms (our group occupied 4) were all clean and well-appointed. The piped in jazz music is a nice gimmick, even though we coudln't turn ours off when we arrived (tired and late at night and desparate for a shower and quiet) The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean and for a city hotel, good sized. And it was a bit charming to hear classical music from the school across the street announcing the start of the day and class time each morning.

So, why not give the Jazz 5 stars? If you want the full tourist experience in Istanbul, it is a tad far from the major sites (Hagia Sophie, Blue Mosque, Topkapi.) And with the nightmarish Istanbul traffic, the taxi ride takes time (count on 30 minutes) and while not too pricey, will cost about 20TL. Taxi drivers generally did not know where the hotel was, so we simply gave them the name of the area and lt them drop us off on the main street, which is only 2 blocks from the hotel. Not a real impediment for us at all. We did not try the tram, which might have been a better way to go. We definitely were fine with the location, but go in understanding what staying in Nistansi means -- quieter (for a city of 14 million), great "non-tourist" shopping, but a bit more travel to get to the "major" sites.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the school.

Nice hotel in a quite place and walking distance from business areas. Staff is very helpful and polite. The only con - poor breakfast, but I dont't care about ut and would recommend this place as perfect to stay if you need to be close to Taxim area.

Room Tip: higher floor i guess is a bit better, but all rooms seems to be ok

The breakfast spread was very very limited. There was only 1person serving/cleaning up/refilling for the whole breakfast area. There is no way she can do all that and yes tables were not cleared & food was not refilled. The best part is 5feet away is the guy at the reception just sitting there watching all this and not willing to get up and help out . There was a point where 2 new guest came down for breakfast and the table was not cleared yet and there was no food left (because it was not refilled) and they were just standing around waiting for service.. And the guy at the reception did nothing...he was just staring at his screen.. The service is really bad. ! Just an aditional bonus, we arrived at 10pm at night. The guy at the front desk told us a couple of places we could eat dinner at.. And when we went there all the restaurants were closed.. Everything closed. When we came back to hotel we told the guy at the front desk and all he said was it cant be. He was just convinced we went to the wrong place... Summary: the ppl they put at the front desk are of No help..u are better on your own.

We take every review seriously and try to continuously improve our service quality. Unfortunately, this guest had a very rare and unlucky start by arriving late at night on a religious holiday where Turkey literally shuts down (just like the day of Christmas in many countries). Otherwise, we are located in the very vibrant “Nisantasi” district of Istanbul, where the city’s most popular cafes and restaurants are located. Even though most of our guests are very happy with our breakfast and overall service, we will take note of this guest’s comments. However, we believe that to rate any hotel “Terrible” solely on breakfast is simply unfair.

Kind Regards,

Jazz Hotel Management

Great hospitality and lots of jazzy details. Stayed in the Dizzie Gillespie room. Staff was very helpful in pointing out fine restaurants, shops, etc. Although a small hotel, it was my best room ever! Size doesn't always matter....!

My stay at the Jazz Hotel was perfect. The service provided by the staff was friendly and tailored to my taste and experience. Because I had visited Istanbul on a number of previous occasions, the staff were more than willing to point out more off the beaten track sights, restaurants, etc. The hotel is quite small but that also helps to create a more intimate feeling that is typically the case with larger hotels. Very conveniently located to the metro station and within walking distance to Taksim. I will certainly be back.
