The staff of this hotel - such nice, kind, honest, sweet, delightful people! How much I enjoyed the hotel comes down to the warm staff there, it didn't feel like I was staying at a hotel but as if I was among friends. The hilarious wonderful Osman greeted us upon arrival explaining things to us. The manager Ozkan - such a nice gentleman, was also terrific. I'm really delighted to have met them.
The location is perfect for a first time visit, very quite street in the beautiful old center, walking distance to all the historical sites - topkapi palace, basilica, hagia sofia, blue mosque. If u wanted to get out to other areas the tram is just 2 mins walk, practically just around the corner. There are many restaurants nearby. One thing I have to point out is that the area is a bit too touristic for a 2nd visit (unless maybe in off seasons).
Just a note, if ur visiting during istanbul's public holidays, make sure to check closing dates of sites u want to c, & check the dates urself, don't rely too much on the hotel just to avoid mistakes (not so precise). We missed the grand bazaar with such confusions.
In terms of the hotel itself, its a charming boutique hotel. The interior is really well done, very nice vibe to everything. The restaurant downstairs where breakfast is served has this ambiance about it, so cosy & bohemian/rustic, yet chic. Rooms are individually designed & beautiful. Not flawless (you'd expect bathroom handles not to come off in such a finely designed hotel) but still nice. Our room - gypsy room, was quite impressive in terms of design. It has a nice balcony & large windows. The lighting in the evening is a bit too low (when ur getting ready to go out). I have to emphasize one thing - for the price u pay the rooms & bathroom are extremely tight (even when ur booking a deluxe room). I was disappointed when I first arrived at the hotel, for the price I expected to get more in return (my mistake for setting such high standards). When I told the front desk that I wasn't happy though - they really tried to make it up to me, Osman was so sincere in trying to help. They genuinely did their best to make us happy - which in the end did make up for everything. The owner was at the hotel the day after arrival. He was surprised upon hearing wat we had to say & offered us an upgrade the next day, but we preferred the design of the room we had chosen more - so he tried making it up in other ways. Also the free 1 way transportation offer when we booked was a plus!
Overall - would I recommend it?! Yes I would all in all, just as long as u keep these things in mind so as not to be let down. Will u enjoy it - DEFINITELY!
