“Fabulous experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

I stayed at the very unique Hotel Sultania for 7 wonderful nights with my 9 year old grandson, Patrick. We both loved the hotel. Not only was it very comfortable but the friendliness of the staff made it a delightful stay. We enjoyed the the buffet breakfast complete with made to order omelets and waffles.Good coffee also. The location is superb. You can walk to the Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia and also the spice market. There are several ATMs and also the trolley line to the Grand Bazaar about 2 blocks from the hotel. I enjoyed the Turkish bath and a massage while Patrick swam in the pool. The wifi was free ans worked well and you can get CNN and BBC if you need to check on the news.Whenever I am in Istanbul. will always stay at the Sultania The hotel will arrange your airport pickup. You will LOVE this hotel!

Room Tip: We were on the 4th floor and the room was delightful. super friendly maid and free Turkish delight i...

This was our first visit to Istanbul and we loved the city and the people. We stayed at the hotel Sultania and found it just perfect.. The location in the historical part of the city made it perfect for sightseeing - everything on your doorstep. The welcome at the hotel was first-class with the front desk people extremely friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated in the Ottoman style.Service excellent, breakfast most enjoyable - we could not fault it in any way. I would highly recommend this hotel to any visitor and we hope to return there again soon.

Situated a short walk away from the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and Hagia Sofia, Hotel Sultania is perfect for break in Istanbul. Our room was beautifully decorated, clean and spacious with new furniture and lovely bedding and to die for pillows - you can even ask for a different one if you need to! Lots of toiletries, hairdryer, magnifying mirror ( very handy when your eyes are getting bad ), great lighting, complimentary tea/coffee/turkish delight and a minibar (chargable). The shower room is a little small but the shower itself is fabulous and the cotton robes are very soft and comfortable. The spa area is well worth a visit and breakfast is varied with ample choice (although probably not too English with veg as a choice!). Our welcome was faultless with offer of tea/coffee/Efes beer and afternoon cakes were provided along with little gifts on departure. Not one to miss.

We've just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel and found it to be excellent. In traffic it took about 40 mins in a cab from the airport which cost about 60tl, and the return trip took 20 mins or so in no traffic and about 50tl. The hotel is in an amazing location in the old town - a 10 min walk to the Ayia Sofia, the palace is a few more mins away from there, and the Blue Mosque another few mins again, so all reall close. In the other direction, the spice market and Bosphorus cruises were probably abot just over 10 mins away. The hotel is in a quiet street with several restaurants and bars.

The hotel is quite new and modern and the staff really helpful and friendly and spoke great English. Our room was on the 4th floor and while quite small was perfect for our 3 night stay and had a small balcony over the restaurants below, but couldn't hear a thing with the windows shut. The air con was a bit noisy but other than that the room was clean and fine.

Breakfast was ok - nice bread/croissants, eggs/omelettes cooked to order, fruit, cereal and processed meats/cheese. We ate at the rooftop restaurant the first night as we arrived late and the room is not at all attractive and not open air but the food was quite good. There is an open air bar up there too with a nice view of Ayia Sofia.

The spa wasn't the best really - we booked the sultan's package which involved us both being scrubbed down with the same loofah by a lady member of staff then both being washed down by a male member of staff (uncomfortable for my wife as she was advised to be topless) and then we had massages where my wife reported that her masseuse climbed onto her back with her full weight, sang to her and kissed her on the forehead at the end which all seemed a bit weird. At least it was cheap!

All in all though, a really nice hotel in a great location.

Really lovely stay in this quality hotel, from check in to check out it was seamless, quick and easy pick up from the airport ( even if the traffic is horrendous!), lovely people and lovely room.

We had a Hamman in our room and i miss throwing water over myself each morning, the room and furnishings were really good, free tea and coffee ( hint ask for milk for your tea and they will bring it ) and goodies from the hotel as it was our anniversary. Also free drink while you check in, very welcome after a long flight, and some Turkish delight in the room to unpack with.

Nice too to have the Sultanias story. We had Esma Sultania.

We had aTurkish bath which was a marvellous experience and then had dinner in the Olive resturant which has a lovely view over Istanbul, best at night when the monuments show up lighted in the darkness.

Breakfast was excellent, sitting outside in the sun or shade if you wished as well as indoors, great selection and eggs/waffles made fresh for you. Nice young Chef and Waitress.

Superb location right in the heart of the old city and within walking/ tram distance of the major attactions

Overall a great break and the Turkish people are lovely, they go a lout of their way to help you, gret city, gret country, great people and great hotel.

Would love to come back.

We stayed here for 3 nights, but wish it could have been longer. We could not fault a thing - the hotel was spotless, the room was a good size and its decor was gloriously romantic - Ottoman in style - sumptuously exotic and plush with excellent facilities and a very comfortable bed, the breakfast each morning was incredible (one of the best I have experienced anywhere - absolutely everything one could possibly want - and which lasted us until dinner each day!), but particularly the staff - every one of them friendly, welcoming, helpful and a pleasure to deal with. From beginning to end we felt welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is also perfectly located in the centre of the old town within a few minutes' walk of all the main attractions. It is very much a hotel for couples rather than families. We certainly hope to return to Istanbul in the future and will definitely book this hotel again - we recommend it 100% - it was everything we could have hoped for - and more.

Room Tip: We had a room on the 3rd floor overlooking the street, so no great views, but it was quiet and very...

We stayed in Sultania for 3 nights in May 2012. We had a marvellous experience. The room decor is quaint and interesting - the only grouse I had was that the wash basin was located outside the bathroom. The breakfast buffet is probably one of the best we've ever had in Europe - a wide variety of foods, hot and cold and great service from the staff in their willingness to make dishes especially for us. At the reception, Eylul was very warm and helpful with all her suggestions and help in organizing our cruise trips, the tickets to the dervish dance and tips on where to shop. The location itself is fabulous - just a short walk from all the amazing sites of Istanbul and easy access to the tram station as well. Overall we had a lovely time at Sultania.
