“A great hotel in an amazing city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

The Saba Sultan is situated with a two minute walk of the Palace in the heart of the old town. Before we booked the hotel we checked on-line reviews and saw nothing but great feedback so decided to stay there - we were not disappointed! The rooms are very well appointed and very comfortable, the bed especially. I had a view looking out over the water at the back of the hotel and by leaving the curtains open was woken up by the rising sun glowing on the horizon. A run around the headland along the coast and back through the town is highly recommended before breakfast. Breakfast itself is a help yourself affair with lots of choice and really authentic. I'm now addicted to yoghurt and honey! The staff were so helpful and very friendly, always smiling and keen to chat. The hotel is also a short walk to a street full of restaurants and bars as well as a local shopping street that we preferred to the mayhem of the Grand Bazaar. A good walk will take you over the bridge frequented by fishermen to a more modern day Turkey with nice backstreets and bars to be discovered. In summary, a great hotel which I would highly recommend.

Room Tip: The view out the back of the hotel is better as you can see the sun come up and all the boats cruisi...

On a four day city break with my mother, we chose this hotel based on good reviews and central location-5 minutes to Topkapi palace, the Blue Mosque etc.-and it did not disappoint. Staff are helpful and friendly, rooms are very clean and well equipped, and could be better in terms of proximity to the main sites. Great value.

We enjoyed the localization of the hotel: we could visit all main places one has to see in Istanbul (Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, Topkapi palace). Good service with owner willing to help in every situation.

Pleasant hotel close to principal sights of Sultanahmet and many restaurants, but in a quiet back street. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Our stay was marred by other guests who do not know how to behave in a hotel and were shouting playing the TV loudly and generally being inconsiderate all at 1am in the morning. The rooms were abit on the small side but we had a nice view of the Sea of Marmara. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and in a reasonable state.

This little but lovely hotel is in a residential cul de sac in the old quarter of Sultanahmet (you can say good morning to your neighbours on the balcony opposite and watch people come and go to work and school). Very handy for the classic sights of Istanbul, good restaurants and interesting strolls - ideal if you only have two or three days. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, rooms are very clean and comfortable, breakfasts are good and the roof terrace is excellent for views and photos. We'd certainly go back there.
