“Nice hotel, would stay in Taksim next time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2010

Amira Hotel is one of the best in the area. Within walking distance from the tram tat takes you to Taksim via the Furnicular. But if you going out every night, you might as well stay in Taksim, and visit the old city once or twice. Service was good - breakfast very good. Rooms were neat but a bit ornate and dark. What was frustrating was there was no wireless reception in the room, only in common area, whch is not what they advertise. The rooftop are is great for relaxing in the evenings with a view over gthe bosphorous and the minarets of the blue mosque. A nice hotel, but I will stay in Taksim next time I am in Istanbul.

The manager did give a good description of the hotel and services available and recommended things to do. There are a few average looking eating places around the area and there is a convenience store which opens late right opposite.

carry a map of the hotel with you because taxi drivers dont know the name or address. The hotel supplies a wallet size map

this was my wifes and I first visit to Istanbul. the hotel reception advised us on the tours to take and the days to visit certain places. all done by email that was responded to within minutes!! when we arrived, its location was as discribed, in the exact location we wanted to be in, with the places and museums and reasturants all within walking minutes. The rooms were as lovley as the photos. the service by the staff was excellent and they really made you feel part of the family/culture.
in summary ....a perfect place to stay

I stayed at Amira for 4 nights in August. In my reservation i included the transfer from the Airport to the hotel which worked perfectly well.

-The room was new, very clean and very comfortable, flat screen tv, free wifi, great shower and bathroom, complimentary bottle of water every day, A/C working perfectly fine (important because weather was extremely hot that week). The minibar items could be a bit expensive, and the decoration is not what i would choose for my house, but this is certainly very subjective anyway..

- ALL the hotel staff were EXTREMELY helpful. All of them help with a smile... Upon arrival, one of the guys in the reception gave me a map and spend almost 30 minutes in the hotel bar explaining me the city, main attractions, local transportation, sightseeing tours, recommendation ,etc, etc. Also, the guys at reception would recommend me great restaurants around the neighborhood (ie. Seven Hills Restaurant, which is one of the highest restaurant roof with and amazing view of Ayasofia and the Blue mosque - if you want to go there, try to stop by during the day to reserve a table so you get the ones with better view) , sightseeing tours, got me honest taxis from a taxi stand around the corner, allowed me to use the gym facility for a shower after i checked out on my last day, etc, etc.... and always going the extra mile to provide guidance, advice or help
- Location is also excellent, in Sultanahmet, just 5 minutes walk from the Blue Mosque , Ayasofýa., the hippodrome, the cistern and the tram stop .

- Breakfast is ok, not the most amazing i had but with good variety and good service. .

Overall, i can comfortably recommend this hotel and the rating i saw here in Tripadvisor that prompt me to book it, did not disappoint me at all. As somebody else wrote down, my advice is that if your choice is Sultanahmet, don't think twice about booking this hotel in your next stay.

This was our first trip to Istanbul and we stayed at Hotel Amira for 4 nights. The hotel was in an excellent location with the historical sights of the city and the city tram a short walk away. The staff in the hotel were all very friendly, polite and helpful recommending sights to see, things to do and places to eat. The hotel rooms were spacious, comfortable and very clean. The hotel terrace was the perfect way to relax in the evening after a busy day of sight-seeing! If we were to visit Istanbul again, without a doubt we would stay at Hotel Amira.

We stayed at Amira for 5 nights in August. We had booked a Deluxe Room and were upgraded to a suite, which was a lovery detail from the hotel management.
We hired the one-way transfer from the hotel as we did not want to argue with any taxiu driver upon starting our vacation. Had to wait a little for the car to come, maybe because our flight was delayed over an hour.
The hotel has an ideal location, just 5 mns away from the Blue Mosque and Ayasofýa.
The hotel is new, spotless clean and furbished with good taste. Our room was large and comfortable. Free wi-fi connection. However, be prepared, the walls are paper-thin: we could ear everything our neighbour would do while taking a shower...
The staff is extremely friendly and tries to help you with anything you might need (from dinner recommendations to providing ice to have a drink in our room). We had a little issue at check-out, immediately solved by the reception staff and with a smile.
The breakfast is good enough, a little bit of everything and well presented - you cannot expect a huge buffet in such a small hotel. We would have appreciated natural orange juice at breakfast, they offer it but for a charge.
The roof terrace is very nice to relax at the end of the day.

Overall, highly recommended, totally deserves its Tripadvisor ranking. Don't think twice if you don't want to spent a ridiculous amount of money on going to a palace on the Bosphorus, go to Amira!!!

Highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the old city in Istanbul. Lovely decor, staff and rooms. Great breakfast and very close to all attractions.

We were greeted by Arif who told us in 15 min. while drinking our welcoming cocktails on the terrace (with a Bosphorus astonishing view) what we should visit, what are his favorite places in Istanbul and other tips.

The hotel is exactly 5 min. walking distance from the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofya (perfect location for the Old City), is perfectly clean, has a super super breakfast (I'm very pretentious on this) which is very diverse and with changing element menus each morning. The entire stuff is helpful and they advice you on different occasions.

The hotel is new and beautifully designed in the rooms ( we had a double room) as well as the restaurants (the breakfast room is cosy with small shelves with books in English about Istanbul, Turkey, etc.)

The price is vvvvvv. good for such conditions.

I recommend this hotel as for sure you will be delighted as I was :)
