“Full Day: Bosphorus Strait, Golden Horn and Bus Tour - took the hotel's recommendation and what a great day!”
My wife and I had a day to fill in while in Istanbul and based on the recommendation of the staff at our hotel, we had them booked a day long tour of the Bosphorus Strait and Golden Horn, followed by a land based afternoon bus tour of selected sights in Istanbul. The highlight was the boat trip which gave absolutely magnificent views of the various mosques, palaces and other atractions that can only really be appreciated by being seen from this historic waterway. It really shouldn't make a difference which firm you book with - any one of the main stream providers will cover the same spectacular sights. The afternoon was a bus tour which again took in some of the main atractions, this time from strategic viewing points such as hills overlooking Istanbul. This offered a diffrent perspective on what you had seen from the water and well worth it. The only down-side is the mandatory afternoon stop-off for a fashion display at a local leather goods outlets where the very obvious intent is that you will buy something. There was no real pressure, so that was a surprise, and the day concluded with a very strong feeling that we had made an excellent choice in how to spend our day. Highly recommended.
