“Traditional Home Cooked Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2012

Slightly hidden, it's easy to miss. Amazing that so close to the main tourist 'traps' is this little gem. Family run, it has a small kitchen turning out excellent meals at very reasonable prices. We ended up eating there three times, including yesterday. We'd just finished shopping at the Grand Bazaar and wanted dinner. We looked in (or were dragged in by touts) several restaurants up around there and back toward Sultanahmet tram stop. They all just looked overpriced tourist traps. We gave up and said "let's go back to Nuran's". Normally we always eat only once in a restaurant when traveling, to get new experiences, but this place is good enough to make an exception to our rule....

“Nice but slow”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2012

We walked over to Nuran's on the very first night we came into Istanbul. It seemed like a small family run place. The folks were very nice and worked hard to get us our food ready. But there was a lot of delay and the food arrived very late and the order was mixed up. It was hard on the kids in our group. But the owners were very nice and accomodating and tried their best to keep us happy. Food was a bit too greasy for my taste. Not a place for large groups.

“Good food, warm welcome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2011

In a city of restaurants staffed by men, Nuran's is different. Ayse opened this restaurant 4 months ago, she told us. She welcomed us, cooked our dinner and served us. Be sure to have the manti - Turkish "ravioli" in yogurt sauce. So good!

“Like having a Turkish mother cook dinner for you in an elegant environment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2009

My husband and I were staying at the Hotel Tashkonak, which is about half a block from Nuran's, and decided to try it one night. It's both an art and design gallery and restaurant cafe. The interior is lovely, with art and authentic handicrafts. The food was fresh and excellent and even came quite quickly considering that this is clearly a small, presumably family-run establishment.

The restaurant is intimate, with only 4-5 tables total. My husband and I had an excellent yoghurt-based soup, apple tea, and a delicious vegetarian entree; the entire meal was less than $50 USD. Service was attentive without being interfering.

“Authentic Turkish cuisine in a charming setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2009

Authentic Turkish food is prepared to order at this new restaurant in Sultanahment. Can be difficult to find - just around the corner from Hotel Dersaadet. When all seats are full, service can be a bit slow - but it's definitely worth the wait. Charming decor, initimate atmosphere.
