“Good location it is not all”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

The room did not have a table to place a computer on, only one chair, no safe, and a small wardrobe. Shower enclosure is really small, not fit for large persons. Room wifi was good. It took me several days to remove the smoking smell from my room, I thought I asked for a non-smoking one. The breakfast was a basic turkish one but far from a continental (no fruit or yogurt). The personnel is good and attentitve. Though the location is superb, I think it was really overpriced. The entrace hall deserves some cleaning.

Room Tip: Ask for the 7th floor rooms you will have light and a little view, lower floors can be noisy as ther...

In a place where location is everything (you don't want to end up paying 30EUR taxi/day, right?), The Pera surely has much to offer at decent prices but rooms are small and need some maintenance and if you're corpulent, there's no chance you'll fit into the tiny shower. Room and bathroom are generally clean with the exception of the space under the bed and you will notice when you'll need to place your luggage under the bed as there is no room to store it elsewhere. Concierge is rather useless: we waisted 1 day Holiday and nearly missed the flight back due misleading information and wrong time booing for the taxi service. Breakfast is a disaster: Nescafè and some toasts with chemical jam, plus you'll need to queue as there are only 4 tables in the room: you better go somewhere else and have a better start in the day. Having said that, I would riccomand The Pera: middle in Beyoglu/Tacsim, 1 minute walk to Tunnel, you can enjoy Istanbul nightlife at walking distance and Sultanahmet is just a few steps further (15 minutes walk or 1 metro stop). The tiny rooms are cosy, you better ask for an upper floor as Istanbul is very noisy -Everywhere-. The WiFI is woring on every floor and it's free -this is a big plus! And the location is unbeatable: you can see the Galata tower from your window. Prices are very attractive if you think that a double room is just 10EUR/day/person more expencive than the equivalent with shared bathroom in a neighbouring hostel next door.

Room Tip: Upper floor rooms are riccomandable because Istambul is generally very loud. There are only 2 rooms...

Good location (for nightlife) but terrible hotel. Room was clean enough but bed was unusually narrow; bathroom was too small and could hardly fit into shower cabin; bad quality material and shoddy work so that door kept falling off; also water leaked from ceiling into the electric installation luckily did not get electrocuted. Probably the worst breakfast in any hotel ever -- there is no dining room breakfast in tiny room in lobby! They probably don't have kitchen. Also they wanted money in advance (I suspect because people wanted refund?) There are many better hotels in same area for less money.

The room is small but comfortable to stay with and has important amenities in the room like frige, wifi, tv, telephone etc. Also important to consider the hotel is clean the staff are polite and the hotel is located in the center. Just walking distance by the shopping centers, tourist spots and accessible to all public transportations specially the subway its just opposite of the hotel. To enjoy your trip and to call it a Perfect holiday feel every moment like your first time.

Room Tip: Choose the Higher floor for less noise & good sunlight view.

I just came home from Istanbul, i got short vacation, and my trip was spontaneous, just because i found cheap ticket from Turkish airlines. I planned stay at Beyoglu, and walk a lot around this place. So i found THE PERA HOTEL by internet. I read some comments about hotel here, at TripAdvisor, but i was unsure some of them are truly. What may i say about hotel after 11 days staying there. First i was very impressed about decor. You can see that on pictures i took there. My room was not big, but clean(thank to girl what make cdleaning every morning!). Bathroom was normal too, but shower could be little biggest, i agree with some guests.Breakfast was simple but fresh, some jams, butter, olives, eggs, cheeses and so on. Thanks to Mesut for his work, breakfast was prepared very early every morning.I wish to say thanks to all staff, and general manager Ayhan Turkoglu, they made my short staying at hotel very nice! Candan tesekkur ederim, dostlarim! :-)

Room Tip: I advice to ask about room 5,6,7,8 floor and with view to Galata tower and Karakoy

This hotel's rooms were pretty tiny - which is no big deal in Istanbul. But I don't consider this a 3.5* hotel (in fact many of the star ratings for Istanbul hotels are a bit bloated).

The bathroom was tiny - I found it a bit tough to shower (and I'm not a prissy dude).

Also the window was broken & didn't close - something I know the person who showed me to the room noticed (since he tried to close it) but then ignored.

The room was crammed but comfortable. TV is ok. Internet ok. The area is beautiful. But this is no 3.5*. It was like an Ikea set was tossed into my room. The hotel is pretty overpriced in my opinion - but as I said, is in a great location (so they can overprice I guess).

My son and I were incorrectly booked into this hotel through an online travel service. Although we tried to change it, because the room was prepaid and we could not get through to the booking agent in Europe, we had no choice but to stay. The room they showed us was awful with peeling paint and facing the back - claustrophobic and dingy.

We paid a premium as I see some of the other travelers had done for the deluxe room on the top floor. The room was really nothing special; however, it was the view that was the redeeming factor. It had wrap-around windows with views of the Galata tower and with no high buildings across the street, the room was very bright - too bright, in fact, if you wanted to sleep in late.

The location was convenient and the breakfast, although not extensive, was fine. If you can get the deluxe room, it is worth it for the view as you really get a nice feeling of the city. if not, there are better options in the city for the price range (i.e. Mia Pera).

Room Tip: Book the deluxe room on the top floor for the views.
