“We love the Hotel Antis!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

We stayed in Istanbul, at the Hotel Antis, for four nights - we just got back last night and miss it already! The location is fantastic - couldn't be better, with the Blue Mosque almost next door; in a lovely area with excellent shops, cafes and a small bazaar; cobbled streets and lots of character in the middle of the old city. The call to prayer from the Blue Mosque really added to the atmosphere.

This hotel is really set apart by its staff - Okan and his staff were all so lovely, we were made to feel very at home and as if we were staying with friends. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful (and didn't laugh too much at our poor attempts at Turkish!!). We even came back to our room over Easter weekend to find an Easter egg had been left as a gift! Seriously, travelling alone as two young(ish) women, it was invaluable to be able to feel so safe and looked after on our travels.

As for practicalities: the room was cleaned very well every day; we found the hotel excellent value for money; we were collected at the airport (free of charge) and helped to organise taxis on the way back; the breakfast was fantastic and saved us money in food for the rest of the day, after feasting on eggs, sausages and pastries every morning!

Okan is very knowledgeable and helped us a lot with directions/local suggestions/outings. The roof terrace is beautiful - even in the springtime, it was lovely to get up in the morning and go out for some fresh air, with the Blue Mosque on one side and the sea on the other; it was a really nice, quiet spot just to sit and read my book in a bit of sunshine.

In short, I loved Istanbul and can't wait to come back - when I do, I will definitely stay at the Hotel Antis.

We were delighted with the location of the Antis Hotel, the friendly staff, cleanliness of the hotel, the comfortable bedroom and lovely shower. The views from our bedroom were great looking towards the Blue Mosque on one side and the Bosphorous on the other. Our room was quiet and relaxing to come back to after a day of sightseeing. The Antis Hotel location meant we could easily get from place to place on foot - very convenient for a short city break. The breakfast was great and provided a variety of food options both hot and cold. Senol added a special touch for us by cutting up apples and oranges, decorating the plate with the peel, forming beautiful flowers and designs. The roof terrace was wonderful at any time of the day and a place to sit and relax. This was a very happy first visit to Istanbul for us, of which the hotel and staff played a big part in making it a perfect holiday.

Room Tip: We paid a bit extra for a room with a sea view. We were on the third floor which may have made it a...

This hotel is really good, the staff is nice, the rooms are clean and the breakfast is good. The best thing is the location! Very close to the Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace which I can recommend to see.

We stayed there for 3 nights and could not understand how this could be Last Minute's first choice hotel. The hotel is very central, very close to the Blue Mosque and many historical sites. The room was small, clean and reasonably well equipped. So far so good. The rest was very disappointing. The bed was terrible: the mattress was so hard it felt like sleeping on a table. Breakfast was very poor: the orange juice was some sort of awful squash, the milk was UHT, the coffee was like coloured water. The jam was some luminous red liquidy thing which only tasted of sugar, the chocolate spread was some unsuccessful low quality attempt to copy Nutella. Cappuccinos, Turkish coffee and omelettes were available for an extra charge, except that if you asked for a cappuccino the waiters would be very annoyed and tell you you were going to have to wait for 20 minutes! Every morning. Before arriving I phoned the hotel to ask for transport from the hotel and I was told the only way would be to book a taxi through the hotel for 65 euros which we stupidly did only to discover the next day that most other transport companies charged about less than 30 euros for the same journey. Very disappointing!

We stayed for 9 days in Antis Hotel and had a lovely experience. Unfortunately our room had a street view so we always went to the roof top to enjoy the beautiful view of Marmara and the Sultanahmet Camii. It was an excellent choice money wise, although stay away from the mini bar in the room :) Breakfast seemed really great for me as a vegetarian, but my boyfriend struggled to find what he liked. Overall a great stay, very nice and extremely polite staff!

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at this hotel in the old part of Istanbul. It The was within a short walk of all the major sights and in a very interesting part of the city. The rooms were very comfortable and clean, cleaned and tidied thoroughly every day of our stay. The breakfast was simple, with a good choice and very fresh. The cooked products were not to our taste but seem to be typical of the area. We got exactly the same breakfast food on Turkish Airlines(airline of the year). One could have as much as much as one wanted and we really enjoyed it to start the day - the bourek and buns were specially good.
The staff were the biggest asset, endlessly cheerful, helpful and patient with us, who did not command a word of Turkish between us and , in my observation, were the same with everyone.

I have read comments about noise but the only real intrusions we had were from the nearby railway(which wasn't all that frequent and did not go through the night) and the muezzin's call to prayer(very atmospheric and what one might expect in a very large Islamic city).

All in all an ace place and the most fantastic value for money when we went in early February. I calculated that it only cost the same per night as a hostel in London without breakfast would cost.

We have just returned from four days in Istanbul. Hotel about 5 mins downhill from the Blue Mosque, ideally located for the old city and the tram across the river. Having survived the hair-raising taxi trip from the airport we were met in most welcome fashion. The room was clean and spacious and at the beginning of February the central heating worked. Breakfasts were more than adequate and all the staff were helpful at all time. No need to go for one of the chains or brands this hotel does the business and we would return.

Room Tip: Ask for the sea view
