2 star at most. Really a budget hotel. The room on the fourth floor we stayed at was about the same size as my home bathroom. Pretty small for a hotel room. Very old furniture, a tv that was at least 20yrs old (didn't even touch the on button), small 2 person bed. Lighting was terrible and there was a total of one wall outlet. The bathroom had some mold but was mostly clean, really inefficiently designed and therefore a bit clumsy.
No, luxury is not one of the words anybody would use to describe this hotel, but still it was not bad.
The room was pretty clean, towels replaced daily, bed clean and made daily. Wifi free of charge like it should be, accessible in the room, which was good i think. And the location quite central, i mean walking distance to the galata bridge, hagia sophia, blue mosque and spice bazaar. Don't expect a view, it is on a backstreet with other hotels in a tourist neighbourhood with pretty much no bars around, but central to the sights nonetheless. Very close to two tram stops from where you can get to the modern centre of taksim square by taking a 10min tram ride and 3min funicular. Or 25min walk if that is what you prefer. Istanbul is not just a city its an experience. We only used the hotel room to sleep at night and have quick showers so it suited our needs. We were out and about all day, every day. So a clean place to sleep was all we required..
I can recommend this hotel only if you arent to fussy and want a simple budget place to stay.
