5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

U would have to say by far this is one of the best boutique hotels I ever stayed in, location is excellent, just of estiklal street, rooms are lovely decorated, breakfast was just lavish, something new everyday brought up to your room......and last but not least, the staff were just very helpful and friendly, all the guest that stay there are all people who keep coming back, so that alone tells you something, I will definitely go back.

We could not have asked for more after our wonderful stay at this hotel. The owners/management and staff were so helpful and very welcoming. The breakfast (brought to our rooms in the morning) were delicious. The beds were extremely comfortable and the rooms spacious, attractive and inviting. I could have moved in and stayed there forever! Coupled with a great location, 5ODA is a total thumds up! Loved it!

Room Tip: Lift access to all rooms we had the 2nd and 3rd floor rooms - all perfect.

This was our second trip to Istanbul and, wanting to again stay in the Galata neighborhood, we decided to try 5oda. We could not have been happier.

Rooms are generously spacious and immaculately clean. The decor is fun but entirely practical. It was a pleasure to spend time relaxing in the room. Breakfast was superb and was a wonderful start to each day.

The location is ideal. The Galata neighborhood is filled with interesting shops, restaurants and cafés. The major sights are a quick tram or bus ride away. With the Tünel funicular just a short walk from 5oda, it was easy to get anywhere we wanted to go.

Most of all, Gulten and Sennur as well as their staff are fantastic hosts. They happily assisted with everything from airport transfers to suggestions for shops in the Grand Bazaar. No question of ours was too trivial and no assistance was too much trouble. In a city as potentially overwhelming as Istanbul, it was great to receive such expert guidance and sincere attention.

We are already looking forward to a return trip.

There is only 1 problem with 5oda, as far as my wife and I can see - actually LEAVING IT to explore Istanbul!
We were greeted at the airport by the car service they had arranged to pick us up. The driver whisked us through Old Town and over the Galata Bridge to the more quaint side of Istanbul, the Beyoglu. Up the hill through windy and tight cobblestone streets we arrived in 30 minutes to the picturesque street of Sahkulu Boston where 5oda resides.
Merma warmly welcomed us and walked us through all the amenities that came with our flat. The room was simply gorgeous and super spacious, with views of the cobblestone hill in the front and a floor to ceiling view of the neighboring courtyard in back.
Fun fact - as spacious as the rooms are, the elevator can barely fit two Americans. The very modern, albeit tiny elevator, is perfect for one person and no more than two bags!
The staff gave us all their contact information should we want for anything. All our travel arrangements were handled for us, and as we were traveling by taxis and ferries in and out of Istanbul all week, this was greatly appreciated. The one time we got a taxi from Old Town back to 5oda, he was not familiar with driving in that neighborhood and got stuck around the Galata Tower. I find this fault in the driver, even though we showed him our map, and the in the placement of the hotel.
Public transportation is less than a 5 minute walk to the fernicular that takes you down the hill to the Galata Bridge and further metro options. I recommend walking down but Tunel'ing up! The neighborhood has a lot to offer... From upscale boutiques to the chotskys you have to go home with. There was a lively scene of street performers and people watchers, clubs, bars and restaurants on the Iskiklal street just one block away. Downstairs had an extensive selection of guidebooks in multiple languages but we found the staff's restaurant recommendations spot on.

5Oda is an extraordinary boutique hotel but let me just say, my wife and I will always remember it as a Bed and Breakfast! The king bed was simply fabulous-like sleeping in a cloud, and the Breakfast.... Words cannot describe! After calling down to let them know we were awake, a soft knock would announce the arrival of one of the true delights.... The Turkish breakfast- laid out in its full splendor on our dining room table. From yogurts and cheeses, dates and nuts, breads and jams plus a hot savory entree, we dined like Turkish sultans!
We really enjoyed coming "home" to the 5oda during our stay, and would definitely stay next time our travels bring us through Istanbul.

5ODA is a boutique hotel with just five rooms, each occupying one floor. The rooms are spacious, well appointed, include a kitchen with everything needed for cooking, coffee, whatever. The management and staff are so helpful, attentive and friendly.

All this, however, is not the real highlight of this unique inn. It's all about location. It is a minute walk up to Istiklal street, Istanbul premier shopping and strolling street, with some of Istanbul's finest dining. The few minute walk to Galata Tower is along one of the area's most scenic back streets.

For those arriving by plane and first time visitors, I strongly recommend that you take advantage of the transportation provided by the hotel. On an earlier stay in Istanbul, a city I have visited 5 times in the past year on business, it took me a long time to locate 5ODA. When I did, the staff was delighted to show me around the hotel, and I immediately knew this is where I wanted to stay on my July 2012 visit, which was a personal visit to attend a wedding.

A most pleasant surprise was breakfast served in the room. There is no lobby to speak of, so this is the only option the management has. Every room has a dining room table, and each morning the table is spread with a variety of breakfast items, covering both a western and Turkish breakfast favorites. This was a wonderful way to start the day.

Public transportation (tram, Tunel and subway) are all nearby. Since it's all downhill to the Golden Horn, a walk to the Galata Bridge takes only 10 minutes.

I recommend this for tourists, especially couples of all ages. The bed, while simply a foam mattress, gave me one of my best night's sleep in a long time. As someone who has traveled more than 200,000 kilometers (almost all on business) this past year, this was a rare treat.

Room Tip: In this situation, all rooms are fine. There is no noise problem whatsoever, and there are no rooms...

Stayed in this hotel for a 5-day city trip to Istanbul. First of all, the location of the Hotel is perfect: Just off the famous İstiklâl Caddesi where you can find plenty of restaurants, Döner stalls, pubs, nightclubs, you name it. Galata Tower is also really nearby as is the Tünel funicular which runs down to the docks of Karaköy and the Galata bridge. Even though İstiklâl Cad is crowded 24/7, 5oda is locate on a quiet side street, and at no point where we bothered by noise of any kind.

We specifically chose for a hotel outside of Istanbul''s main tourist area's (e.g. Beyazit, Sultan Ahmet), because most of the hotels (and restaurants for that matter) there look shabby and overpriced, and these area's get downright desolated after nightfall. Our choice to stay in Beyoğlu paid off, as it really is one of the more fun neighborhoods to stay in, and getting to and from the entire city is as easy anything (you can even walk to the old town in 15-20 min accros the Galata bridge), because of the tram and ferry connections running from Karaköy, the şişhane metro station, and the bus lines running from Taksim.

The rooms itself are very spacious (something you don't see that often in Istanbul),are modernly furnished, and indeed are more like studios than hotel rooms. The bed slept very well, there is a seating area in the middle, as well as a dining table and a bathroom containing all the amenities you'd need. Cleanliness is of course a quite important aspect, and again we could find no fault at all in that regard.

There is just one room per floor, which adds a nice touch. The room contains a fridge (with complementary bottles of water, quite handy), a safe for storing your valuables, complimentary (and working) Wi-Fi, as well as a kitchen, which at least you won't be using for breakfast, as that is brought up to you room every morning. The breakfast is really delicious, fresh and varied and certainly a great start of the day.

On top of that all, the hotel staff was very helpful in amongst others advising us on things to do and nice places to have dinner, printing boarding passes, and posting letters. these things really do make a difference. Although the staff is not on-site 24/7, we weren't bothered by that at the least (add any rate, you can reach them at all times should you need anything).

All in all, we had a great experience at 5oda and would gladly come back should we find ourselves in Istanbul again in the future.

Room Tip: The room on the 4th floor contains a small balcony

What a wonderful sanctuary in the middle of Galata-Istanbul! This place is just steps from the beginning of Istiklal and about a 5 min walk to Galata Tower. In our opinion, staying in this area really gave us a true view of Istanbul life. The small 5 room (one room on each floor) was such a great place to stay during our recent 10 day Istanbul trip. Basically, it is a small building housing 5 guest rooms – one guest room per floor. In our opinion, the rooms were more like small efficiencies providing plenty of room for two or three people to be comfortable. It really isn’t a traditional B&B (which I actually don’t like) – but rather a small boutique hotel giving each guest much privacy.

Per our request, we were happy that management honored our request to reserve the top floor guest room (there is an elevator). However, noise was not an issue so if our request couldn’t be honored we would have been fine in any of the rooms. While it seemed like most (4 out of 5 I am guessing) guest rooms were occupied it was very quiet and peaceful.

Breakfast is provided daily at your whim (from “8 am until afternoon if you wish!”) by simply calling the reception/kitchen area. The breakfast spread was spectacular. It was wheeled in and all the plates (about 10 with different things such as breads, olives, fresh fruits, eggs, etc.) were placed on the dining table.

Service was not only provided for breakfast and daily cleaning but also concierge services. We requested a reservation at 5Kat (wonderful rooftop restaurant) our last night with the best view possible. Gulten (he is awesome!) made the arrangement and we couldn’t have spent a better final evening in Istanbul!

From the initial booking through our check-out and arranged ground transportation, we felt the warmth of the owners and employees of 5ODA. Gulten, Sennur and Kazim made our Istanbul vacation so special!
