“Average Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

We got a very good rate online for this hotel. That helped. The hotel is barely in the Sultanahmet. Very hard to find. We arrive by tram in the Sultanahmet and noone seemed to know where the hotel was. We finally got a taxi, and even he had to ask directions. The neighborhood is kind of dicey. It is very dark, down a very steep hill, past some strange little shops with random men sitting around drinking tea. The room was okay. Clean. The bathroom however had a real black mold problem on the grout around the otherwise nice tile. The breakfast was nice on the terrace on the roof. Overall, the hotel wasn't bad, just the location is not very good.

We spent a week in this hotel. We enjoyed our stay and we would certainly book once again this hotel if we decide to return to Istanbul. The situation is pretty strategic (5min walk to the centrum). The rooms are lovely and the staff is really charming. The breakfast is rich and varied. I think this hotel is good value for money ! Long story short : great stay.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

We had the first night in a room on the first floor, just off a patio. We were concerned with noise, but shortly after 10 PM people moved off to their rooms or wherever. Because of another group coming in, we were given a different room nights two and three, and for the inconvenience, they gave us a free Turkish Bath (on site).
Every time we asked suggestions for sites in Istanbul or food, they were very helpful. Very fair price. Breakfast on rooftop was with set price, was a reasonable, abundant spread.
5 AM - Blue Mosque call to prayer. That was the ONLY thing we found to have issue with - and it wasn't even their own doing.
If you want an inexpensive place close to many major sites - this is it.

Room Tip: First floor rooms are smaller, just sufficient for a couple.

Spent 3 nights beginning of May 2013. Real value for the room in this <hotel> is 50 Euros per night. I paid 270 Euros per night.
Was fooled by positive reviews on Tripadvisor. I don't know how owners of this place do it. Probably smart Turkish guys have their ways to manipulate.
Only 15 rooms, everything needs serious refurbishment. Dirty dark bathroom, gloomy room with the cheapest materials used. Small wardrobe, suitable for only one person.
Breakfast included, looked good on the photos, in reality - cheapest set of products.
I guess, if I'd paid 50 Euros per night for the room in Aruna, no complains would come from my mouth. Higher price will make you feel sorry, when you see in reality what is offered.

Room Tip: Don't pay more then 50 Euros per night in this hotel. Better find another place to stay if don...

The Good:
(1) We were a group of 5 that arrived in Istanbul on a flight that landed at 3:30am. By the time we got to the hotel, we were exhausted. Since there were extra rooms available, the on duty clerk gave us two rooms (one male/one female) to rest in free of charge, even though our official check-in was not for hours and our actual rooms were not available. After we awoke, our rooms were ready and we were free to check-in.
(2) The hotel is nicely located and is less than 10 minutes (walking up-hill) from the blue-mosque, aya sofia, hammams and other tourist attractions. We were very pleased to not waste money on transportation costs each day. However, there are better located hotels a bit further up the hill that are better situated, so just do your research in the sultanahmet.
(3) The staff was lovely and tried to be as helpful as possible, although there were some isssues (see below)
(4) The rooms are comfortable and clean and the air-conditioning worked quite well. The bathrooms are also nice.

Needs Improvement:
(1) When you book something through the hotel, whether it be a day excursion, a taxi for a dinner a bit further away, or transportation to and from the airport, the price is inflated because the hotel takes a cut. Definitely arrange any excursions or transportation you will need directly to ensure that you receive an accurate price.
(Note-- these arrangements are common practice in Istanbul and not specific to this hotel)
(3) As stated in other posts, the breakfast is sub-par. The cereal is stale, and the hot food is hit-or-miss.
(4) Do not plan on getting much connection on the wireless internet in your room. There is a computer you can use in the lobby and you can get some service in the lobby sometimes.

All and all I do want to say we had a pleasant stay. We were happy with the price and location and the overall experience was fine. I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a decent hotel in the sultanahmet not looking for anything too extravagant, but still comfortable.

Room Tip: Rooms upstairs are quieter than rooms on the ground level, so that you do not hear the traffic on th...

This is not an hotel really,it has a really shabby rooftop breakfast room, it advertises dinner menus on the web site, but there is no evidence of it,nor would we eat there,
Breakfast was cold,or maybe warm hard boiled eggs,
The hotel ! Is on the road and dangerous, there are no pavements and the street is cobbled and up hill,so no good for the older traveller,
The desk staff were friendly, but no help as to excursions or trips,
We felt duped by them using TL as the price for things but charged us Euros we were charged 75 Euros for the airport trip, which was a rip off,

Room Tip: Go else where

The location is excellent and the food was good but I will not stay here again or recommend this hotel to others.
My 72 yr old mother and I were given, possibly the worst room in the hotel, even though, we were staying a total of three nights, a Thursday, and Friday, with my husband joining me and my mother flying back to the US on Saturday. The room was cramped and on the first floor, facing the street, so was noisy and flooded with light all night long as the shades were translucent.
When my husband arrived on Saturday, he complained, and we were moved to a bigger room on the third floor with thicker shades.

Room Tip: If you stay here for the location and value, then make sure your room is not on the street.
