“One night in Istanbul”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

I was sleeping in Best Western Amber Hotel in Istanbul one night. But it was a very comfortable night. Rooms in this hotel are well dressed, equipped with everything you need. There is a nice terrace on the roof, from where you can admire city view. Sometimes a sea gulf comes and sits next to you watching you with curiosity.
Decent breakfast sent timely and in a nice atmosphere.
Worth to consider as a base for city tour.
And the most shining point of the hotel is Neda - who makes you feel very comfortable and everyone can enjoy conversation with her.
Many thanks for a nice talk which made my stay even more pleasant.
Chris

We had one of our greatest experience in our last trip thank to all the friendly stuff especially Neda. She just took the holiday experience to a new level and actually increased our expectation. The highlight of her character is that she made us feel so much at home that sometimes we forgot that we are actually in hotel. It more seem like we stay over a family member place. We sure recommend your hotel to any of our friends who want to visit your city and we are looking forward to come back there sometimes soon. I'm planning to stablished my own business in an early future and I will be asking Neda to come work for me because of her outstanding customer service skills and her academic skill of customer relation.

I am staying here with my mum and dad at the moment and we're loving it. The rooms are beautiful, the location is excellent and staff are very good. I am sure that this hotel will be part of a trip to Istanbul that we will never forget.

We were traveling with our sick son, his car seat and stroller amongst our luggage. Upon arrival, the man at the front desk was trying to help us out by giving us a triple room, which had one queen sized bed and one twin sized bed. However, it left us very little room to move around in, especially since our little guys is walking and wants to run around. We went back to the front desk and the manager really did work with us on room availability. She showed us 3 rooms (all on the 3rd floor) and let us pick our room. We appreciated it, thanked them and began to unpack.

Unfortunately, the following morning, we were awakened by extremely rude and inconsiderate guests that happen to be there and on the same floor as us. Because the 3rd floor is immediately beneath the restaurant that serves breakfast, you can hear the kids running around and moving the chairs around. This was extremely annoying and frustrating. Also, these guests were slamming doors and running up and down the stairs, screaming the down the hallways, it was very disturbing and acted as an unwanted wake up call. I went downstairs and found the same guy that checked us in and I asked about their cancellation policy. He politely looked it up and unfortunately, since I had booked through a travel site, it was non-refundable. I realize he could have told me tough cookies and we would have been miserable in that room. Not to mention the view from that room (south facing), was nasty!! Instead he asked us why we were considering canceling the rest of our stay, so we told him and he moved us to a south facing room on the first floor. This room was larger, more spacious and so much quieter than the previous one. He did tell us other guest had complained about the other people as well. Unfortunately, it’s not in his hands to raise other people’s kids, we understand that. We appreciate the fact that he worked with us. We thank him for that!!
Breakfast was decent. The highlight of breakfast was Ms. Neda!! She is such a pleasure. She immediately greeted upon entering the restaurant. She was very warm and welcoming. She loved our son and would take him off my hands while we enjoyed breakfast. Needless to say, my son loved her too and would put up a fuss when we were getting ready to leave. Ms. Neda was very sweet and really made sure our stay was comfortable. After breakfast service was over, she would head downstairs and help guests out with day planning and she even helped us call a cab to pick us up. On our last morning, we went upstairs just to say good bye to her and she had bought some Irani herbs and explained to me how to make a paste mixture to help treat my son’s illness (he had caught a virus while there). We really appreciated her generosity and consideration towards us. She really was a pleasure to see daily, she’s so sweet and she really takes pride in taking good care of the hotel guests.

I do have to say, we were there for 5 nights, and our toiletries, and mainly our soap was not replenished for a few days, until we asked for more soap. This seemed a little unusual to me. I understand not wanting to be wasteful, but we clearly ran out of soap and didn’t have any more. One would think they would come back to a fresh and made up room and soap replenished if needed, but we had to go down and ask for it.

Over all, everyone that works here was really helpful to us during our stay. From the manager down to the cleaning ladies and chef were all super nice. They all greeted us, entertained our son, and really accommodated to our needs. After moving from the 3rd floor to the first floor it really made a difference on our stay. Had we stayed on the 3rd floor, I think my review would be much different.

A bonus, everyone at the front desk and Ms. Neda spoke perfect English. The guys called cabs for us as needed and provided directions to places when we asked. The manager helped me by looking up the Hop on Hop Off bus stops. We say Ms. Neda lending hotel umbrellas to other guests as they were about to head out in the rain (we, had ours). Some of the guys even helped us with moving our luggage around from room to room since we switched rooms so many times. We then decided to donate our umbrellas to the hotel for future guests as well. We also left them our Lonely Planet Istanbul book with them for future guests as well. Hopefully others will be able to use is and benefit from it.

We’d really like to thank everyone for making our stay as comfortable as you can and helping us out. We hope to come back to Istanbul real soon!
