“Most Friendly and Helpful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

Berce Hotel was truly an excellent place to start our first visit to Istanbul - Mehmet Kaya deserves an award for his guidance, organisation, patience, care, and attention - and made our whole holiday worthwhile.

We stayed in four different hotels during our Istanbul holiday but Berce was by far the most friendly and helpful. Mehmet, Serkan and only 2 other staff members work very hard around the clock to ensure the hotel is clean, comfortable, operational and safe; they go out of their way to ensure guests needs are met, questions are answered, and advice and assistance is provided. They made everything easy. The owner of the hotel, Yasar Bey, was also very graceful and friendly.

Berce is in an excellent location as it is walking distance from all historical sites, but still clean and quiet. The terrace is a very nice plus point, particularly at the time we visited. The bookstand had a very good collection of books and maps on Instanbul.

We would go back at any time - particularly due to the staff and their kindness.

The Berce Hotel was more than I expected. You really can't beat the location, and the staff is excellent. There are only 7 rooms in this hotel (I think), so the staff will get to know you quickly, which is nice. It's very close to Istanbul's most famous attractions, such as the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, both within short walking distance.

Even the beer, water, and soft drinks in the room's bar are well priced -- not much more than buying at a store.

There are dozens of restaurants and shops nearby as well, including a small bizarre (which I think is better than the Grand Bizarre in terms of being able to actually buy something and keeping your bearings -- but the Grand Bizarre is within extended walking distance too).

The only difficult part about the trip was that the cab drivers had trouble finding the location. Make sure you print out the name and address of the hotel. I had forgotten to do that, and the taxi driver misunderstood me and took us to the Berk Hotel, which luckily is only a few blocks away. And also beware.. Google maps doesn't show the hotel in the right location.

Room Tip: I doubt there's a bad room in this hotel. They're not very big, but this isn't a resort...

We booked two rooms for several nights and found this to be an excellent solution for staying in the Sultanahmet. Simple, clean, quiet, with a lovely rooftop terrace breakfast and a staff that goes out of it way to help. Very convenient to the historic center, yet far enough away to feel like a real Turkish neighborhood. Don't miss the nearby Little Aya Sophia and Sinan's Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Mosque.

I highly recommend this hotel, which is very near to the major sights at a reasonable price. The people could not have been nicer or more helpful. We stayed in 3 different rooms, including the basement triple, which is not really a basement as there were windows. All the rooms were clean, spacious, and nicely furnished. When something did go wrong--AC noise--they were there in minutes to fix it. A great place.

This hotel is excellent! We were in room 107, which was spacious, clean, comfortable and had three small balconies (one which had a partial view of the Bosphorous). Hotel Berce is tucked away on a quiet side street away from the commotion, but just a 5 minute walk from the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. My partner and I were greeted by Mehmet who was very friendly and extremely helpful (much like all the staff at this hotel). Whenever we needed something (taxi, reservations, booking a tour) they were ready to help us. Breakfast in the morning was superb and we had a wonderful experience here. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We had room 107 and it was great!

The hotel is very near to the Blue Mosque, and so to Hagia Sophia and Topkapi palace.
But the most important thing is about the hotel's personnel: they're very KIND and POLITE, everytime I was in need for something like informations, eletrical adapter, etc... they've spent time to help me!
The breakfast is very suggestive because it's in the terrace of the hotel.
The room was very clean and valuable! It has 3 small balconies from one of them you can see the sea! Also the beverages inside the room fridge was cheap and coffee and tea are included in the fee.
So I will return here to visit Istanbul with more time to spend on this marvellous city.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. Every member of the staff was kind and courteous. Close to all major sites in the old part of Istanbul made this hotel a perfect choice for our all too brief visit. The breakfast buffet with yogurt and honey still in the comb alone is worth a revisit. Many thanks to Mehmet and staff.
