“Good value for the for the money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2009

I have stayed in Antioch hotel for two nights in july. What I can say about this hotel is that is very well located in the ceter of the Town, very very nice personal, basic room, maybe a little disconforting was the fact that it was a twin beds room as I have traveld wiith my wife. Very good price , and yes I would go back to this hotel.

I'm not sure who is writing the reviews on this site but they are NOT accurate. The rooms are very basic and that's fine. BUT our carpet is ripped. The shower leaks and floods the bathroom every time you shower. There is tons of black mold in the shower and the bathroom smells musty. The bathroom is so small that you can't open the door fully without hitting the toilet. My advice? Go to The Antioch Hotel across the street. It's the same owners but it's much cleaner and the rooms and bathrooms are also a bit bigger. I don't think there is a big price difference, but whatever it is, it's worth it. Trust me.

I stayed for 5 nights, basic, clean and comfortable, the staff were accomodating and helpful, giving me a good rate and even escorting me on the tram to find the train station to catch a bus ;-)! As a solo female traveller the area felt safe and was a good spot in between sultanahmet and taxsim, all in all good experience.

I will agree with the other who has written about this hotel, the most of it.
But I will warned other, that don´t rely on the stuff. We nearly missed our flight because of it. They have forgot to order the hotel-car the day before, and we needed transport in the early morning. And because of that we got to pay much moore than we had agreed of and it became to be a very stressed situation. But we were lucky, we had some extra money left and we didn´t missed our flight :)

Stayed here for 4 nights. For the price we paid i couldnt fault it. the rooms were clean and comfortable and the hotel was in a perfect location for all the tourist attractions. the tram stop is 2 minutes away but we just walked everywhere. the hotel is down a side street but it is well lit and always busy so we felt safe even at night.

The location of the Hatay Hotel is in the old town so it is convenient to most of the tourist sites. However there are many hotels in this area and you may do better to choose one of those.

We stayed at the hotel for four nights in late December 2008. The staff were pleasant enough but were not what I would call friendly, no-one smiled. We were not told that you had to hand in your key to have your room serviced. Not a big deal. On the occassion that our room was serviced we were left with 2 towels and only one hand towel / bath mat and a third of a roll of toilet paper.

We were given a room on the first floor. We could clearly hear the noise from the street and the noise from reception. The room was very small and dated (wallpaper stained and peeling and industrial carpet). By a very small room I mean bed pushed up against the wall and 3 feet of space around the bed. The only furnishings in the room were the bed, one side table, a cupboard, a roof mounted tv and a curtain that did not cover the window properly. There was no fridge like other reviews suggest. The bathroom smelt of cigarette smoke (the roof was blackened, not sure what from) and was also tiny. The shower was tiny (3 feet x 2 feet) and had no shower curtain or shower door. I believe the hotel is rated 3 star but it would be pushing to be 2 star anywhere else in Europe.

The breakfast was in the hotel across the street and it was a good continental breakfast.

I would only suggest staying at this hotel if you were staying for a night or two, were guaranteed a room above the first floor and were not paying a great deal.

  • Liked — The breakfast
  • Disliked — The tiny and smelly room
