“nice place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

good value for money. very nice reception, good English. nice turkish breakfast. if your windows are facing the sea, the mullah from the mosque can disturb a little about 5:30. and the football players till midnight. maybe a little bit too far from Sulatanhmet metro station, but colourful turkish district. overall very good opinion.

The rooms were very comfortable and the location was quiet. If you're looking for a busy hostel this is not the right area, but otherwise the all the mosques and the tram are walking distance and the breakfast is very good. However the hotel is hard to find for taxi drivers and this was the only annoyance.

Good location, especially if you travel by car, easy to acces from main route.
Istanbul is all about hills, up and down, might be a little dificult to walk if you travel with small kids.
From the hotel in five minutes you reach Blue mosque Sultanahmet Camii, from where you can take tramway.
Or you can just explore the streets near by. Close by (kandirga) there are many restaurants and two supermarkets, excelent prices, Bim and Dia market, everything you need, tap water, fruits, alchool, pampers, fresh bread and so on.
About the hotel itself, a wonderfull experience.
Parking is in front of the hotel and it is included in room rate. strong wifi in the rooms.
We apreciate the daily cleaning of the room. Everything was shining, clean and cosy. king size bed very confortable, rooms big and stylished.

Rooms overlooking the street have a wonderfull view of the sea, but there are quite noisy because of the railway near by. Also there is a football place right across the street, a lot of noise and lights, might be difficult to sleep early.

Excelent breakfast, lot of quality food, much variety.

Staff quite kind and helpfull, excelent english speaking.

Very good value for money, especialy because parking is included in room's rate. Istanbul is a very big city, difficult to explore by car, so easy by bus or by public ship. Parking in the city is very expensiv, so Saruhan Hotel is a good choise.

We stayed here during winter, and were blown away by the experience. The rooms are quite spacious and very clean, with a lovely spacious balcony where you can enjoy the city or sea view (depending on your choice).

The location is quite convenient as well, near the Sultanahmet tram station. Plus you can simply walk around to visit some famous attractions nearby - like the Blue Mosque and the historical palace nearby.

And most important of all, Harun (the hotel manager) was so kind and helpful during our stay that we would love to go back there - if only for meeting him again. :-)
He helped us by patiently explaining all the money-saving and smart options to travel around Istanbul. Explaining the map carefully and sharing helpful tips that a first-timer tourist may not know was another great help he provided.
Amazing customer service, I have to say.

Also there is a free coffee and tea maker in the lobby to get unlimited refreshments all day long for free. That's a lovely bonus I have rarely seen in other hotels.

Oh, and did I mention about the gorgeous view on the terrace where you have your breakfast every day? The view of the Marmara sea and the sunrise is simply breath-taking!

If I want to mention the downsides, that's a tough one. I loved almost everything about this hotel.

Maybe just the location was a little bit far and complicated to find from the tram station. Because the streets in Istanbul are sometimes very twisted and like a maze. So if it wasn't thanks to our mobile GPS navigation app, we would get lost a few times, since the streets around this hotel are like a maze.

We stayed at the Saruhan hotel twice and really enjoyed the lovely atmosphere, spacious and clean room and friendly and helpful staff. It is located in a local area with a nice park nearby where we made snowmen with the local kids. Our boys also had fun playing at the soccer fields next to the hotel. Thank you, Harun, for the shuttle bus to Sabiha airport!

Super breakfast on roof overlooking the Sea on Marmara. Rooms clean and relatively inexpensive for Istanbul. Courteous efficient staff. Only a fifteen minute walk through a residential neighborhood to reach the major attractions.
